I love those guys that come to the park all decked out with the jersey, shoes, sleeves, bands, and then absolutely suck at basketball.

I don't know about you guys but im glad that some players wear "crap on their bodies" as it makes it easier to recognise them especially if you're watching highlights on youtube where sometimes you can't even make out their face.

Example... Black shooting sleeve in Lakers Purple, no headband. To my knowledge there's only 1 player in the NBA that rocks that.

I was once told , "there is no such thing as a dumb question". That may be true, but when you answer your own question with ridiculous assumptions like they wear arm sleeves to cover tattooes you sound like a complete moron.

I know for a fact the leg warmers/ leg sleeves are either for pain or to keep their muscles warm on their legs it keeps them from tightening up. Headbands for sweat but those shooting sleeves I have no idea.

I once read Iverson wears his because hes got tendinitis in that elbow, not sure if theres any truth in it, but it definitely makes sense.

I find that I play much better defense when I wear an armband on my left forearm, ala Big Ben. It's all mental, but it works.

big ben is one of the few cases where the look has no effect at all. He just did that to make his muscles look bigger.

I remember hearing that Iverson's sleeve was to cover gang related tattoos though. I don't think it's absurd that of the multiple players who hail from the inner city ONE might have a gang tattoo on his body. I also don't think it's crazy to think somebody'd want him to cover it up.

Sasha Vujacic's headband is simply to keep the hair out of his face when running around, much like Mike Miller does.

Its not for the looks, lol. Its not like he wore it when he had short hair.

Mike Miller didnt either.

The only thing that looks normal to me is a calf sleeve. I would probably wear one if I was in the NBA. It's stupid when players go overboard like Lamar Odom and Vince Carter.

These two players are also the biggest waste of talent in the NBA.

well Vince has been a perennial all-star and was a star player for a minute..so if he's a waste of talent, you are saying you think he should be the best player in the NBA? because that's what using more talent would do for him..

Lamar Odom's "talent" is so overrated..he's looked at like that because he's a big man that can dribble..he's a bad shooter, he doesn't finish as well as he should most of the time..where is this incredible talent that he has?..I don't think it's a matter of motivation like Carter or Sheed, he just doesn't have as much talent as so many people think..

I don't think that's true at all. He wears the sweatbands that high on his bicep to catch the sweat running down his shoulders The one on his wrists catches the sweat running down his forearm. What's the big deal?

I wouldn't say that he could be the best in the NBA. He could be a top 5 player though. He's much more talented than a guy like Paul Pierce imo. There's no reason why Carter can't be on the same level as Wade (healthy) and Lebron. Lamar Odom has the perfect NBA body, but does nothing with it. He's fast, long, strong, athletic, tall, and coordinated for a guy that's 6'10. If Lamar had Kobe's desire to win and his work ethic, he would easily be a top 10 player. Not being able to finish around the rim and shoot can easily be fixed with a better work ethic. Look at how many players came into the league as bad shooters but got better as time went on.

Iverson and Melo both wear the arm band for bursitis problems. Basically without it, with their high shot volume, their elbows will swell and have a sack sometimes as big as a baseball on their elbow. I have a feeling this is a common problem that most high volume shooters run into and the main reason they are worn in the NBA. Tats have nothing to do with it what so ever from what Im aware of.
