I think Milwaukee is going in the right direction with this trade but I'm disappointed to lose what little hope I had that Redd would be coming to my Cavs. Jefferson compliments Redd very well at the SF spot. If they can get a PF that can play some decent defense and rebound they will be 5th or 6th seed playoff team in the East.

Im guessing this is the real reason for the trade. The Nets could have definitly got better players out of other teams. No offense to Yi, he looks like he's going to be pretty good, but the Nets could have got more.

i dunno why some say it's a bad deal for NJ. You get a bad contract in Simmons for 1 year less than Jefferson's bad one, a potential in Yi who will be a stud after the Olympics and the huge fanbase he brings in, and lastly a chance to grab Lebron James in 2010.

Like duh...

The bucks will love Jefferson's competitiveness and slashing abilities but elite 3?? I'm sorry but NO. Jefferson is not elite until he starts playing defense again and settles into the offense again. Last season he averaged more points because the offense ran through him. HOWEVER, his FG% went down from over 50 to 47. His rebounding numbers dropped from around 6.5 to 4 and his defense stopped altogether. He was a stud at the line though and thats the only percentage that went up. If Jefferson can learn how to play D and slash more than shoot, the bucks should be a playoff team if they put enough pieces around Mo redd and rj.

Good post, it's not like either team was going anywhere anyways. I just wonder how this move changes draft boards for tonight.

if NJ can move Vince(they better **** move him, he needs to be on a better team), than this is a great trade..they're the favorite to get Lebron in 2010 IMO, so they just need to get a good young team around him and have some cap room..they need to move VC though..

Milwaukee doesn't change..they get better, but they still might not even make the playoffs..a team of Redd-Jefferson-Williams?! damn, Bogut is gonna have a hard time continuing to develop his offense..Redd and Jefferson don't pass the ball..WIlliams has to because he's a PG, but he's a chucker too..

I don't think neither team lost though..

I'm expecting more moves out of both..please Thorn, make a deal involving Vince..send him to Cleveland..

Yes, the Kidd-Jefferson-Carter triumvirate was going nowhere.

Two down, one to go.

Hey you draft Gallinari at 10 and you've got the Italians and Chinese covered, with those guys hitting shots i wonder if they would be better off had they kept Jason kidd?

Good deal for the Bucks. Jefferson is a pretty underrated player. Hopefully Yi pans out for New Jersey.

jefferson is underrated

you'll see his true capabilties because he'll get isos on the block and alot of cut plays as well as more off the ball screens which gives him more mobilitiy offensively, because he can always kick it out to redd for the jumper which will make teams hesitate to double on him.

hes a very good SF , but his defense has diminished maybe becuase his morality was down.

im letting all the buck fans know RJ isn't that good of a defender as the 2nd half of the season on the nets says, maybe he'll be revived in milwauke tho.

I think it gets the Bucks to the playoffs, for the Nets they werent going anywhere with RJ and with their pick at 10 + Yi you could be real special in a couple of years. i see teams with very little patience nowadays, they're all thinking they can pull a Celtics and win now, not likely going to happen.

If Lebron does not sign with New Jersey it will set the Nets back at least 5 years.

Has there ever been a bigger gamble in the history of the NBA?

5 years?

I think people are overestimating what was being offered for RJ just a bit.....
The Nets weren't going to get a dramatically better package from someone else. And even if they don't get LeBron, they still got Yi and can use the cap room on someone else. They weren't going to get much more for RJ.

Gamble getting rid of Kidd and Jefferson or just Jefferson, i dont see it as a gamble at all. The Nets werent challenging for a title with this group and they bring in a guy in Yi that would probably be a top 5 pick had he waited to enter this draft. Am i missing something here in evaluating Richard Jefferson or is it because he gets traded now all of a sudden he's a star?

He actually showed pretty well for a rookie, and he has played well lately in international work. Richard Jefferson is a role player and on the downside of his career in my opinion.

Actually RJ just turned 28 five days ago, is in the prime of his career, AND averaged a career-high 22.7 ppg last season.
