He actually showed pretty well for a rookie, and he has played well lately in international work. Richard Jefferson is a role player and on the downside of his career in my opinion.

Actually RJ just turned 28 five days ago, is in the prime of his career, AND averaged a career-high 22.7 ppg last season.

The offense was running through him though, not VC, hence his higher PPG and a good portion for our loss totals. I like RJ though. Great guy, great player...just don't expect him as a first option.

So RJ netted them the 6th pick of last year and a bad deal(Even though its 1 year less than RJs bad deal).

Guys like brand and Marion alone cant even get a top 6 pick sadly and they are far better than RJ.

I am so pissed at Kohl and MIL. So you tell me that you dont want Z-Bo because hes a thug and gets into trouble but you say ok to a guy who choked out a man in a bar not too long ago? Seems fair. :(

Can you say a bitter Knicks fan?

i'll stand corrected on the age thing, i thought he was older, still think he's a secondary player.

I understand. I just think it's ludicrous to refer to him as a mere role player on a downside of his career.

Has there ever been a bigger gamble in the history of the NBA?

its a gamble yes, but i dont think its the biggest gamble in nba history. the nets were going nowhere and now they get yi - who may or may not pan out

although i think it would be hilarious for both the new york teams if lebron stays in cleveland

I think this is a good deal for both teams......Yi can play. His first year wasn't going to be flash given the conditions. At worst I think he'll be a 15ppg scorer.

Yeah it's going to be hard to duplicate that 34-48 record from last year.

IF (and its a HUGE if) NJ is able to land LeBron in 2010, they would bring in so much extra revenue it would be ridiculous. Imagine if Yi is a decent player, you have a huge market in China, then you add on top of that, the most marketed domestic player in the L in LBJ? Insane.

One or two more moves and I'd start worrying about the Bucks. At least for 2 years until Skiles wears out his welcome.

Who is the third member of this elite 3? Wait Redd is elite? Wait Jefferson is elite?

I believe he meant elite 3 as in Jefferson being an elite small forward.

As nice as it would be to add Lebronze I find it hard to believe that he leaves Cleveland, I will say that after Cleveland New Jersey appears to be the next most likely suitor for him but come on Cleveland would have to completley implode the next couple of years for LBJ to actually leave them...

Netsultimatefan63 wrote:The bucks will love Jefferson's competitiveness and slashing abilities but elite 3?? I'm sorry but NO. Jefferson is not elite until he starts playing defense again and settles into the offense again. Last season he averaged more points because the offense ran through him. HOWEVER, his FG% went down from over 50 to 47. His rebounding numbers dropped from around 6.5 to 4 and his defense stopped altogether. He was a stud at the line though and thats the only percentage that went up. If Jefferson can learn how to play D and slash more than shoot, the bucks should be a playoff team if they put enough pieces around Mo redd and rj.

Actually, his FG% went up from 45.6% to 46.6% as his scoring went up from 16.3 to 22.7. Also his rebounding dipped only slightly from 4.4 to 4.2. I think he will do just fine in Milwaukee where he'll be complemented by some pretty capable scorers and won't have to take as many bad/outside shots.

Sucks for VC.

As a Vince Carter fan from his TO days, I hope he gets moved. Though, I don't think the Nets are going to do that as they will be a really really awful team.

VC to Cleveland!

Nice deal for the Bucks, Jefferson is underrated on both ends and they got to get rid of Simmons contract.

Hopefully. It's more about RJ's attitude than anything else right now, if he cede's some of the scoring responsibilities to other players and picks up his defense then he'll be a great fit on the Bucks.

Wanted RJ to come join us..., oh well. Who won this trade? Overall, NJ wins, but they'll suck for about 2 years till the 2010 season though.

Btw don't count on a Carter trade now . There's just no need to trade him at all anymore . Capspace goal is archived now unless a trade we can't reject comes along we keep him.

He's now the face of the franchise and the leader of a very very young team .

There is no pressing need to trade Carter, but if a decent offer came alone, I hope we trade him. His contract his too long and by the end of it it will be one of the worst contracts in the league. If we can dump him now...I'd do it.
