Yi still has potential to be a productive player and a very marketable player in China for the Nets. NJ is clearing salary to make a big splash in free agency 2010 with over 20 million under the cap. Keeping Jefferson does them no good for the next few years when they are rebuilding. Yi/Harris will be part of the rebuilding and whoever they pick up in 2010. Lebron? Wade?

Yi didn't show enough to warrant anything close to the hype he got. Simmons is a bad contract. Jefferson is a good player. I'm pretty sure Milwaukee won this trade pretty easily but they are still a mess.

Contrary to a post I saw earlier, I think that Williams, Redd and Jefferson are NOT a good trio. One of Williams or Redd has to go before the Bucks will become successful.

Great trade for the Bucks. Not bad for the Nets. Yi is quite marketable and playing in the top sports market and their imminent move to NY makes this make sense for them. Yi I am sure isn't the whole plan for the Nets but is a start to at least appeal to a race of people in a huge market.

Steal by Jersey

So RJ netted them the 6th pick of last year and a bad deal(Even though its 1 year less than RJs bad deal).

Guys like brand and Marion alone cant even get a top 6 pick sadly and they are far better than RJ.

I am so pissed at Kohl and MIL. So you tell me that you dont want Z-Bo because hes a thug and gets into trouble but you say ok to a guy who choked out a man in a bar not too long ago? Seems fair. :(

Seems like a great deal for the Bucks. Less so for New Jersey. Maybe #8 is involved?

Good trade for the Bucks.

Simmons play terrible last season at small forward, he didnt even much start all of their games, so Richard is an upgrade there.

Yi averaged 7 a game last season, I guess they want to draft a power forward with their first rounder.

If this is true it amazes me how quick teams give up on players. Basically you're giving up on a guy who would be a junior in college had he been in college.

How does this make sense salary wise?

Well Yi must be happy. But I'm not sure what to think of this for the Nets.

For the Bucks, well it makes them better, but how much? They are still going to be awful defensively unless they make more moves.

He actually showed pretty well for a rookie, and he has played well lately in international work. Richard Jefferson is a role player and on the downside of his career in my opinion.

RJ had his best statistical season last year. I think Yi is going to be a good player but he has a long, long way to go. He has to work on everything in his game besides his jumpshot, I think the Bucks want to win now and the new regime is trying to accomplish that. Oh, and those international games were against Lithuania's B team. I sure hope he would dominate.

I like it for both teams. Milwaukee isn't done making moves and and Jefferson is a nice start. New Jersey is going into full blown rebuilding mode and I expect them to trade Carter as well. But this does make me wonder what this means for Sean Williams. Him and Yi are both power forwards who deserve playing time and it looks like one of them is going to be the odd man out. If Yi can put on 20 or so pounds and transform his game by developing some better back to the basket moves as opposed to a more face up game, New Jersey will be a force in a couple years.

Code: Select all

Failed Trade Scenario
Sorry, but this trade does not work.

Due to New Jersey and Milwaukee being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. New Jersey and Milwaukee had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did not happen here (only New Jersey met the condition). This trade does not satisfy the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

I don't think the Bucks management has any idea how to run their franchise. What direction are they going in exactly?
