Malice At The Palace: WNBA Edition

Post#1 » by kno » Wed Jul 23, 2008 1:35 am

Anyone see it? LA SParks vs Detroit Shock on ESPN.

Detroit misses a FT in the closing seconds, Candace Parker secures the rebound, and she gets fouled hard by a DET player. They were about to fight here, but Lisa Leslie separated Parker from teh other player.

A fight was about to start as Candace Parker rushes toward the DET player, but it is quickly diffused. ONly a few shoves here and there.

Candace Parker misses 2 FTs, LA gets the offensive rebound, and the player gets fouled.

LA makes 2 FTs, extends the game to a 4pt lead over Detroit with 4.5sec left.

Candace Parker gets tangles up with some DEt player after leaving the side of teh paint after teh made FT, and knocks CP to the ground. The DET player then runs up on Parker, who pushes the DET player to the ground.

Chaos ensues.

Everyone pushing and shoving everyone.

Then Rick Mahorn (Detroit coash) comes in and shoves Lisa Leslie. Actually pushes her with two hands to the ground. Lisa Leslie then looks shaken, as she goes after Mahorn. She is later shown crying about the incident.

Game is delayed in Detroit for a long time.

One DET player came out in a wheelchair after the incident. I think she twisted her knee or something. Everyone was pushing and shoving, and she was on the ground.

All in all, Candace Parker and another LA player are ejected, two DET players and Rick Mahorn are ejected from DET's side. Suspensions and fines to come.

Im sure video will be up on youtube in a few.

edit: here's the first link up of the video:

I have a crush on Candice. LAWL no joke

But yeah, I saw the melee. What's up with the assist. coach?
Lisa almost cried in the postgame interview.

Sad, but perhaps a spark to WNBA popularity.

There was a Sparks player holding Lisa Leslie back it appeared.

Then Rick Mahorn is seen heading towards Lisa Leslie, and literally shoved her with two hands. Leslie falls on her ass.

Mahorn doesnt even offer to pick her up or anything. He simply shoved her, saw her fall, turned his body, and kept on with is business as if nothing happened.

Leslie was then seen complaining to the refs about Mahorn.

She was later interviewed, ans she was clearly distraught. She was crying on the bench, and was visibly upset.

Yeah.. afterwards.. what's her name did a little judo club to Mahorn. She bounced off of him like he was a steel wall. Slight humor there. One Detroit player got INJURED trying to stop her own teammate from going mad wild.

(wow I can't even name their names.... GO WNBA. I will become a FAN now.)

It happened just minutes ago.

We have to hope we get lucky and someone was actually recording a WNBA game for whatever reason.

I disagree.

It was Kobe's fault.
