I don't quite get the people who are claiming that this is nothing. Smoking weed is fine. I've never done it, but I support it's legality, and I don't mind that people smoke it despite it's illegality. But you've got to be a complete moron to be smoking it at job orientation when you are on the cusp of joining an elite group such as the NBA. You don't risk the rewards of playing basketball at the highest level because you can't wait a few days for orientation to be over.

If they can't show restraint for a week, or however long the orientation is, then they will probably never be able to show it.

Oh, and Beasley may have gotten off the hook with the NBA, but you can bet part of his salary this year will be going to Arthur and Chalmers. 8-)

It was incredibly stupid but it doesn't warrant a suspension for a 1st time offense. The embarrassment of being plastered all over TV and bashed in sports radio should suffice.

Why does this NBA feel the need to make this stuff public?

If it is true that Beasley was in the room but not suspended it will show how hypocritical Stern is.
I'm kind of amused that he is so pissed off that someone has tarnished his squeaky clean image of the NBA. This guy reeks of self righteousness.

These guys wont last in this great league of ours. Neither is that good in the first place, and then to find out they're both headcases with drug issues. Miami's point guard situation may be the worst in league history and I'M LOVIN' IT!

Where do you hang out?

I've met countless of people who've never done it, and would be the last ones on earth to even try it.

It doesn't matter if everyone you've met, has done it, the point it is ILLEGAL; and it's something your employer has said no to in your contract that you signed.

Simple. They were wrong, and they are going to get punished, and I hope they do teaching them a lesson.

**** Darrell Arthur for saying this is "the first really bad thing he's done". I'm so tired of people treating pot like it's the antichrist...

They were out of line and broke the rules and should be punished. I say leave it at that; they were wrong for breaking the rules, not smoking pot.

I get that the reason they were kicked out of the orientation was to send a message to the other rookies, but isn't this a seminar meant to educate these kids about not doing things like this? I feel like it was a poor choice to kick them out of a life skills orientation and expect these two to develop sound judgment on their own. A fine and a tongue-lashing by Stern in front of the other rooks would have set them straight enough, but kicking them out of orientation seems counterproductive.

Apparently that was what they were flushing when security kept hearing so many flushes coming from behind the locked bathroom door. Either that or the dude had a log that just wouldn't go down. :lol:
