Very Slim... I would imagine that they were caught in the act of actually smoking in their room. Why else would the security guard go into their rooms?

Maybe they were blaring music, and there was some weed lying around on the table, but in that case I don't see how they could say that Beasley wasn't involved.

Regardless of whether its really that bad or its really not that bad is another topic, the fact is that its currently illegal and they know it. I am sure the respective franchises care, the league cares and fans cares. The players represent the league, the team and the city that they play for and its bad publicity. Tell me who likes bad publicity? It makes the league, team, and the city look bad.

The fact that they smoke weed doesn't make a difference, i just hit a bowl myself right now. You've got to be pretty dumb to do it at an event like that though.

I can understand laughing at their stupidity (might as well have smoked right in front of the organizers), but to wish Kansas would have lossed to Memphis and so on is silly. I think Arthur must have shot some of you guys in the testis.

It's illegal, so it could land them in jail, meaning they won't be available to play basketball.

It's against NBA policy, so it could get them suspended, meaning they won't be available to play basketball.

It doesn't exactly endear you to the fanbase (see: Portland Jailblazers), which hurts ticket sales, merchandise, etc., meaning less money in the owner's pocket.

It doesn't exactly demonstrate an ability to adhere to basic rules. And NBA teams have rules a lot stricter than "don't smoke weed." If the 2 can't even stick to a simple rule like that, can they be trusted to show up to practice and team meetings on time?

it's not just about smoking weed here..it's about the teams, the fans, the owners involved..you're getting paid millions to maintain a positive image because you're representing the team..you have a responsibility..that's why it's even worse when star players do it, because they are a huge part of the team and they have fans that look up to them..

I do agree with them being suspended... 50 games? Punishment doesn't fit the crime. If I was commish I would say suspend for 3 games. The money from their paycheck is donated to the NBA cares foundation which then helps out communities by giving computers to schools, building houses like in New Orleans, and a bunch of other good things. Hey have them do community service within their cities and problem solved.

I don't know, this really doesn't make me think any less of them. Although it does make me question their intelligence a bit getting caught like that. Smoking weed isn't a big deal to me...plus I'm thinking at least around 40% of NBA players do it anyways. Hopefully these guys learn from this and put it past them.

I'm no expert on random drug testing, how long marijuana stays in the body, etc. So someone tell me, do the teams do random drug tests during the off-season or maybe some time before training camp begins because if they do, this makes these two look even dumber. Because something would've picked up sooner or later, I assume.
