LeBron's legs are really in great shape...It's a much different animal here... Maybe a freak accident or something, but nothing that would stem from a chronic issue of joints or cartilage..

Karl Malone played effectively at this height and weight and was fine, and he was run up and down for years... And I think LeBron will be much more of a post player later on in his career..

There's reasons why guys like Vince Carter have these issues with their knees... I don't think LBJ will be in the same boat despite the size... He's just a freak...

it doesn't really matter how good of shape his legs are in.

its the simple physics of having a lot of weight come down on a joint from 40+ inches up. karl malone never dreamed of jumping as high as lebron does....and he does it a dozen times a game (with dunks & rebounds etc)

i read this in the denver post awhile back....the nuggets physical trainer talking about the weights of kmart & nene and how he wants to keep them low.
"This is not an aesthetics competition," Hess said. "This is a performance thing. If you take a guy like Nene, for every five pounds over a specific weight, that's about 50 pounds of force output on the joint every time he strikes. So when you're looking at 20 pounds, that's 200 pounds of extra force output on the knee every time his foot hits the ground."

a little added weight means a lot of added force every time you run. and hess isn't talking about coming down after having your head at the rim.

6'9 is a crock too. In the TEAM USA lineups (lining up by height) he was noticeably shorter than Carlos Boozer, whose 6'7 3/4.

6'9 in dress shoes maybe.

Lebron is 245/250 at best. 260 is Alonzo Mournings weight, and sorry, Zo is much bigger and more muscular than Lebron. Also, Karl Malone....no way in hell Lebron weighs anywhere near that man.

LeBron was 245 at the draft camp, and he's noticeably bigger than that now. Zo and Malone were 260 when they were drafted, and both gained a lot of muscle.

Lebron does not look that much bigger. I'll give him 250, maybe 255. He is not 260+.

okay i have a couple things to add....

1) WHen that amir guy dunked from the freethrow line and saying that its no big deal because many other people can do it doesnt downplay what Lebron just did.. You have to realize that he was in a contest where he had all of the time in the world. Lebron did it getting a start from half court(not full like everyone else) and had guys chasing him close behing. Plus Amir struggled soo hard to dunk that, his arm was full extended and his head was a foot balow the rim. Lebron took off, head at rim leved, arms bent at the end, and jamed it hard as hell with a foot or 2 to spare. Its about the quality of the dunk. Its like chipping in a shot form 100 yards out with your dad compared to tiger woods hitting a 150 yard shot to win at Agusta, GA.

2) Ive seen Lebron in person many times due to the fact that we live in the same neighborhood. DOnt let the pics decieve you, this man is HUUUUUGGEEE. I mean enormous. He towers over me by 6 inches, had more muscle in his bicepts than i do in my whole body and when he flexes those 22's, they are bigger than my head. Camras can be decieving and take it from me, he is a lot bigger that he looks. When you see him you just stand in awe because knowing that a guy that is 6'9" 274 that can run faster than anybody in the NBA, jump higher than anybody in the NBA, and is a physical FREAK. I mean this guy should be in a circus.

3) If you think that was special abiut that guy dunking from the freethrow line. Lets talk dunks for a second in highschool.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VN0NI_gkwTk WATCH THIS
Ive seen NBA player do this dunk in a dunk contest and it was big a couple years ago. Lebron is doing it at age 18, in highschool, IN A GAME. Main point being IN THE DAM GAME! Sure a lot of NBA guys can do this dunk but none at 18 years old in a game.

4) (sings) I wanna be like Bron..do dod doo do

He's definitely put on more than 5-10 pounds, he's almost as big as Dwight.

He was 6'7.25 in bare feet when he was at the draft camp, 6'8 in shoes, he could have easily grown enough to be 6'9 in shoes. He's not that far off from Dwight in that last pic.

While I don't think he's 274 I have to agree with Flightnumber23 here. Don't let cameras deceive you. When 2004 US team came to Turkey for a friendly game I was working as a rookie reporter and saw LeBron from really close and gotta tell you that he was looking bigger than anyone on that team. His shoulders and back is weirdly huge that we were all shocked and it was just after his rookie season. He was so wide that Tim Duncan was looking like a kid.

He's at least 265 right now and like Corona said I'm worrying about possible knee injuries. Yeah the guy is a freak and never had a major injury but still it's concerning.

Not gonna happen. Where is his post game now? Both Kobe and Jordan had ridiculous post game developed in their early 20's. Lebron just isn't that type of player. Once his athleticism goes, so does Lebron.

He could easily be 274, he was 245 at 18 years old when he was at the predraft camp, and has clearly grown quite a bit since then. I mean look at some of the pictures of his between his rookie year, and now. It takes a lot more then 10-15 pounds to make that big of a difference on a guy with a 6"9 wide frame like his.

One thing that does seem to always get exagerated is body fat though. I mean 5% body fat? Ronnie Colman a couple pages earlier was probably only at about 3% body fat in his pick and could only sustain that for a few hours. No way maintains 5% imo he'd have some pretty serious striation going on.

No way on this EARTH is LeBron James 274lbs. Even though he is what 6'9, his frame and bone structure doesn't allow him to be at %5 bodyfat with his 6'9 frame. Media is trying to boost him that's all. All WWE wrestlers get the same attention. I know Dave Batista personally. He even told me WWE's cameras add more weight to his frame and in real life he is 280lbs, while WWE bills him at 315lbs. You're gonna tell me LeBron James is bigger than Batista. Take a look at Brock Lesnar in UFC. 285LBS but in UFC they say he's actually 265lbs. Is LeBron bigger than Brock Lesnar now ?? And also, LeBron is not 5% bodyfat. Most IFBB Professional Bodybuilders are btw 2% and 5% bf...are you going to tell me LeBron is bigger than Jay Cutler or Ronnie Coleman ROFL....media is so funny these days.

I'd love to see how much LeBron can squat, deadlift and bench press. Anyone knows what is workout regimen is ?

And here's a picture of me at 6', 245lbs 11% bodyfat - Trust me I do know what I'm talking about

Image and Image

No idea what your talking about LBJ being bigger then Colman. Ronnie competed at around 300 pounds, and is almost a foot shorter then Lebron.

8-9 inches makes a ton of differnce. Let's compare the pictures of you to someone who actually weighs ~15-35 pounds less then you and you have 8 inches of extra heigh.

Lee presit. 5"4 Between 210 and 230 in the pics.

For those of you passionately arguing lebron is 270+ lebron himself pretty much states that's not true.

"What, 270? No, that's not true," James said. "It's a rumor, I don't like rumors."
