2008 NBA Draft Re-do

Post#1 » by Conceptcoop » Mon Nov 24, 2008 4:58 pm

If the draft were held again today, knowing what we know now, how would it go down?

1. CHI-Derrick Rose. No brainer.

2.MIA-Michael Beasley. I don't know if Riley was ever serious about Mayo, but if he was, maybe he would take him here. But Beasley has shown enough flashes to cement his this spot.

3.MIN- O.J. Mayo. Traded to MEM I am not familiar enough with the situation to know why Minny did the trade in the first place. I would assume they would trade him again.

4.OKC- Russell Westbrook. I have watched 0 Thunder games this year, so I don't know how Westbrook is doing. I am going to guess that they would stick with him.

5.MEM- Brook Lopez- Lopez is a legit 7 footer, with an NBA ready offensive game. I am hoping, for the sake of Minny fans, that if they could do this pick over they would.

6.NYK- Jason Thompson- He has proven to be a legit big, even coming from a small school. He has put up great numbers playing out of position. He can be the future at the 4 spot.

7.LAC- Anthony Randolph- He is an amazing athlete, too talented to fall to 14 again. He has a more complete game than Randolph, which is why he goes here. But the Clips are solid at the 3 spot, so I don't know what they would do.

I'll add on and finish as I look over things a bit more (when I get of work)

Thoughts?

I have to confess, these kinds of threads are really fun as a Kings fan. Geoff Petrie is an excellent drafter, and more often than not we get excellent value for our picks. Especially since everybody and their mothers laughed at the Kings for taking Jason Thompson 12th. Who's laughing now?

As for this thread, would Memphis really take Brook Lopez over Thompson? Imagine a Gay/Thompson/Gasol frontcourt, that's really nasty.

Yeah I doubt they'd take Brook with Gasol available, he's clearly just as good as Brook and a better passer, at least for now. Thompson would be a great fit for Memphis. Minnesota fans be damned though, they really come out as the losers. I still don't understand why they thought trading OJ freakin' Mayo for Mike Miller and Kevin Love was a good idea. Sure it nets you two decent players, but OJ Mayo could be an All Star in the near future.

I'm thinking the Bulls would go Anthony Morrow if they had a chance to do a draft re-do. After all, he is the Tom Brady of the NBA.

He's putting up 36 tonight. And I'm pretty sure they aren't even playing tonight!

He's the Tom Brady of the 2008 football season. 0 TDs and a 83.9 QB rating.

I was shocked when people didn't jump on the Mayo for Love thing right away... as soon as it happened I thought it was one of the worst trades I've ever seen. Mayo and Jefferson would've been epic and had championship potential. Jefferson and Love is

Im a Love and OJ fan, wanted Mayo, now I really want Mayo

It's pretty pathetic, that they justified not need Mayo because they felt McCants could do everything Mayo could do.

Gasol is only a rookie because this is his first year in the NBA. I think he was drafted two years ago.

I remember laughing...out loud actually.

I personally would still take Brook over Thompson, but that is just me. I thought Brook should have gone 3rd. He is a legit 7 footer with offensive talent. That doesn't happen every year. I think Brook has a higher upside. But I couldn't blame anyone that would pick Jason either though.

We have plenty of evidence to suggest that Chalmers, Thompson, Morrow, and a handfull of others would not last as long as they did.

If Thompson is going top 10, Luc Richard Mbah a Moute can't be far behind.

McHale got pwned once again.

I think if you put McGee back then, he would get those blocks just as easily as Russell did. Russell's athleticism was well ahead of the players of his time, and that's about it.

Yeah, but the Kings still suck. So don't really think the Kings would be laughing in any case.
