Cavs vs. Wizards is clearly the best rivalry in the NBA

How can people seriously try and say Celtics/Lakers is better? Okay, so 20 years ago they were better, great. That all vanished in the 90s and such, and was just brought back by the media the past year. So they're 2 of (if not THE) best two teams in the league. It's a great matchup, don't get me wrong, but it's really not a rivalry. Players try hard when they play each other because it's an important game. but they can play and have the game end in a blowout. there's no real drama going on. sasha vujacic won't wear green - ooooooh how interesting! sike.

cavs vs. wizards are a real rivalry in today's NBA. These two teams truly hate each other. Technicals are issued almost every time these two teams play. Coaches are ejected. Players are suspended. Flagrant fouls occur. Games come down to the wire on a regular basis. Extremely controversial officiating occurs.

That's ignoring all the off the court drama. We all know about the DeShawn Stevenson talk with LeBron. We know about the Jay-Z stevenson diss. we know about the wizards boycotting their favorite DC club after playing the song. we know about the lebron being 'overrated'.

So much **** goes on in this rivalry. This year just cements it in my mind. The cavs are playing their best basketball (ever?) with lebron. the wizards meanwhile are playing their worst (ever?) without gilbert and haywood. and STILL the two times these teams have met this season the game has come down to the wire and the losing teams have felt robbed by officials. These two teams come to play whenever they meet, and they rarely if ever let us down.

Please, I'd love to hear what makes celtics/lakers or any other two teams a better rivalry in today's NBA.

and yes, I am a wizards fan, so I am bias, but I honestly feel that this is the best rivalry in the NBA regardless.

To be honest both teams bore me. The Wizards used to be entertaining but there are some prime time idiots on that roster that make the game unwatchable at times.

netsforce, i personally don't think how watchable a team is makes a difference here. both teams show up when they are up against each other. it's really like watching an entirely different team.

Yes, great rivalry. Why, I'd rather watch the Cavs and Wiz play than...oh, let's see...get a root canal, have a full body cavity search, or dig my eye out with a dull spoon.

Seriously...come on, man. Generally for it to be considered a great rivalry the games have to mean something. The Wiz haven't meant anything to the Cavs since...well, ever, I guess.

oh, i'm sorry i forgot that 3 playoffs series aren't meaningful, but a single regular season game in december is.

the greatest detractors of this rivalry say "it can't be a rivalry if one team wins all the time". well my friends, the wizards have won 7 out of the last 8 games in DC. the games come down to the wire, i don't know what more you could ask for.

It sounds like you guys just don't want to watch this because it isn't a matchup between the best teams in the league. I'm sorry, but two teams with good records playing each other does not mean rivalry. That means quality basketball.

I think the Cavs/Wiz is a legit rivalry. They really do hate each other, and despite Washington's poor season, they definitely brought their A game the two times I've seen them play Cleveland this year. However, the Wiz are going nowhere and the Cavs handled them fairly easy in last year's playoffs. Nice to see the Wiz win one though, especially after having the refs steal one from them in Cleveland on Christmas day.

this would be like a Magic fan saying the Pistons/Magic rivalry is the best in the NBA. Sure recently there's been a lot of animosity but for a rivalry to be the best it has to have a long history of it. LA/Boston has that.

LA Boston is a damn good rivalry too. You should have seen me today rooting for the Knicks because I'm a Laker fan.
