You cannot tell me basktball and NBA is tougher sport than soccer. So many injuries in the NBA but so little in the soccer...this doesn't add up...

Watching one soccer tackle, where a defender takes down forward, it looks like he will never walk again the way he's fouled yet...he gets up and brushes it off...

You think WWE wreslting is real too don't you.....

Soccer players fake it, plain and simple. But as far as real injuries go, its grass Vs wood floor, its the fact that basketball is played much more in the air vs soccer played much more on the ground, its the fact that soccer players dont actually run for 45mins a half as they dont have to cover the whole field (more like 50% - 66% depending on position), basketball players cover the whole court. Soccer players are smaller, lower center of gravit, NBA players are just mamoth, heavy, mofos and their ankle/knees get hurt worse when bent out of shape.

Every professional sport is physically and mentally demanding... injuries will occur, sometimes more sometimes less.

Is the premise of the question actually true? I don't play or watch soccer, but I have a lot of respect for the physical demands of the sport.

LOL @ the immaturity and ignorance of most of the anti-soccer posters in this thread.

Maybe because the entire premise is dependent upon one being superior to the other? Anyway, I don't know it it's true at all, but I know if I ate **** and landed on grass, I'd be less likely to be hurt than if I did it on wood.

Why does everybody with an opinion on "soccer" - either for it or against it - always have to be so hostile towards the other opinion?

Too much jumping up and down? Soccer has a lot of rough collisions but they aren't always two feet off the ground when they happen.

Glad you agree.

But as far as the thread in general, it's pretty obvious the original poster was trying to bait this fight. A bit trollish if you ask me. To come on a basketball forum and insult the players comparing it to a pansey sport that looks like chickens with their heads cut off kicking a ball.

This would basically be the same thing as someone posting a thread titled, "Why is LeBron such a d-bag compared to Kobe?" Obviously that would get locked pretty fast, the the poster being warned, if not suspended.

people always talk about how popular soccer is, but i think mixed martial arts might really be the most popular. kids kinda fight with each other naturally and I'm pretty sure a fight is universal. It definitely doesn't draw the television ratings that soccer does, but how many heated disputes end up escalating into a soccer match? It's also even easier to do then soccer, you don't need ANYTHING to fight someone. People just don't think of it as a sport under those circumstances. People do beat the crap out of their friends/family all over the globe though, take it for what it's worth.

You don't need much for soccer, it's relatively easy to assemble a pick up a game. All you need is an open space, something to kick and some people to kick that thing with. Anybody here who's ever tried to make their own basketball hoop like I used to definitely would agree that it SUCKS! Soccer is much better imitated. Soccer does appeal to the impoverished a little more, with the exception of the impoverished in America's inner-city where everything is paved with concrete or asphalt and there's no room. Basketball reigns supreme in the US ghettos because it takes little space, there's public parks, you can bounce a ball everywhere because it's all paved and when push really comes to shove you can nail a milk crate to telephone pole. Having said that poverty is poverty, and anybody who thinks someone sleeping on a cold Detroit sidewalk begging for free soup and blanket is better than sleeping in some third world country begging for soup and a blanket is buying into propaganda way too damn much.

DieselCeltic,

Soccer is for girls and children, period. Hey, before your next *match*, diesel, do me a favor: Make sure you check twice and remember your SHIN GUARDS, because there's nothing girly about grown men wearing shin guards, no not at all!!  I don't see GSP wearing those things during fights, so what's your excuse again? Oh yeah, you might get kicked in the leg.

The fact that you have to even ask this question shows a rudimentary understanding of both sports. Weak.

Do you know why football players wear shin guards? It's because it hurts to be kicked in the leg, particularly by people wearing studded boots. Even one kick in the leg can hurt, but, dozens of them? Yeah, that hurts. And so they wear shinpads. Thought you should know.

If you think a man is less of a man because he employs a simple and unobtrusive way of trying to avoid being hurt too much, then God bless you.

Come on!! I´ve seen more than 10 legs broken while i was playing, because one player kicks another and the other player has all the strenght of his weight propped in that leg.

The people who say football is not physical or kicks don´t hurt, it´s because they have never played in a competitive league.I mean people who play really well and where the rythm is really high, and when you past one playes he´ll do whatever he has to do to bring you down (faster than mls).

And remember that although the surface is grass, some studs are made of aluminium.

Sorry for my English.

Re-read the OP's first post. While he does say that he thinks that soccer is tougher than basketball, its doesn't try to demean basketball and its not inflammatory.

Speaking of trolling.... All of your posts in this thread have been fight bait
