ESPN Insider Rumor: Josh Howard to Wizards for 5th Pick.

But I don't believe there's any way Dallas gives up Josh for just the #5. He's worth more than that to us.

The Mavericks are said to be interested in the fifth pick and the prospect of drafting Jordan Hill.

The teams have made nice in the past, most recently in the swap that secured Jamison in 2004. The Mavericks also were kind enough to relieve the Wizards of Juwan Howard in 2001.

The Mavericks apparently are willing to part with either Jason Terry or Josh Howard to sweeten a potential deal. The Mavericks would be obligated to accept an expiring contract of the Wizards, the one belonging to either the Poet or Mike James.

ESPN insder reads it and says:
"Mavs eye pick No. 5?" and "Mavs will trade J.Howard for #5"

Complete B.S. and re-wording By BSPN who say we had interest in Baron too, when the article sourced said no such thing.

As the author of the article says, we MAY do Jason Terry, but unlike his opinion...my opinion says there is no freaking way we trade Howard for the #5. Adding cap savings is just ludicrous.

Bad deal for the Mavs. Cuban isn't looking to rebuild, and trading Howard for the 5th pick in a weak draft won't make us better any time soon. I wouldn't even do Terry for #5.

It only happens if the #5 then goes to a third team who gives the Mavs something better than Howard. Otherwise I see no reason for the Mavs to do this.

A lot of people see Josh as a SG. Even Dallas talked about guys like Rashard Lewis, Ron Artest because they think Josh can play SG. I don't think that is a big deal. Really I'm more interested why Dallas would do this. Who is available at 5 that is better than Josh Howard. This draft sucks. Unless they think they can get Rubio I don't get it.

ok, maybe im smoking dope, but y would the mavs trade a all star player in his prime who is on an expiring contract, and better then any player in this draft for junk? now maybe howar for the # 5, haywood, young, and songolia works, but to think giving the best player and taking a bad contract is down right embarrassing. and id bet all mark cubans money tht if he did any trade like the op, wizards brass would be foamin out the mouth for it. this shouldn't even be posted.

The rumor is just that the Mavs have CONSIDERED packaging Howard in a deal for the Wizards pick.

Nothing has happened and we don't even know if the Mavs have talked directly with Washington on the matter.
