Matt Barnes Signing With The Magic?

Orlando is throwing money around like it's going out of style, may open the season with a payroll in excess of $80 million, and they may not be finished spending as sources say they could be closing in on a deal with Matt Barnes.

Very good signing if it's true. He'll be signed for what's left of the Magic's MLE (around $1.8 million).

His scoring off the bench will allow the Magic to be more versatile in their starting lineups.

Nelson
Carter
Pietrus
Lewis
Howard
Bench: Barnes, Bass, Anderson, Gortat

or

Nelson
Carter
Lewis
Bass
Howard
Bench: Pietrus, Barnes, Anderson, Gortat

or

Nelson
Carter
Lewis
Gortat
Howard
Bench: Pietrus, Barnes, Bass, Anderson

The Magic, if they get Barnes, will be crazy deep.

Lame.

They can sign all the forwards they want...it doesn't matter. Their point guard situation is horrid.

Jameer was an All-Star. Plus, it will be Carter who will have the ball most of the time anyway.

Jameer Nelson is the best point guard in the East. And if it wasn't for a freak accident, we might be talking about the starting point guard for a championship team.

Barnes is a 9th man in a good team. And not a very good 9th man.

No. Harris, Rondo, Calderon, Rose, Miller, Sessions, maybe even TJ Ford and Stuckey are all better than Nelson.

The Magic should be using their MLE on Andre Miller instead of Matt Barnes. How does Barnes even help them? Dude doesn't even fill a need.

Your kidding me right?
Rondo/Rose are better than Nelson. Not taking anything away from Nelson he's definitely a top 3 or 4 in the East.

9 out of 10 GM's would take Rose, Harris and probably Rondo over Nelson. He had a good 1st half of the season ( IIRC about 15 ppg) and before then had been a very big question mark internally, and around the league.

Nelson can do everything Rondo can and he has a jumper. We leave Rondo WIIIDDDDEEEE open and he misses, thats a huge flaw in a pg. Rose is still new we will see in a few years but I guess he is arguable to, he has alot of careless turnovers.

After those Danny Ainge comments I would think twice about Rondo, he takes risky decsions alot.

Tetris... are you serious? And yeah guys. Rondo , Harris and Rose are top tier in the East. Then you got Jameer. And that's not even bad at all!

LOL tho, Sessions is better than Nelson? And the way you worded it, you implied he's better than TJ Ford and Stuckey. Wow.

Nelson has been a mediocre point guard his entire career. He play's above his head for half a season and now he's a top three point guard in his conference? I'm not buying it. He had a hot streak that's all. He'll revert back into his normal self like he always eventually does.

They need to try and sign Andre Miller and quit fooling around. Jameer is to small. He's to inconsistent. Really, the Magic should have kept Rafer as a backup.
