I thnk Barnes would be good and could possibly even start for us if we want to run a small starting unit and bring Pietrus off the bench.

Jameer Nelson is the best point guard in the East. And if it wasn't for a freak accident, we might be talking about the starting point guard for a championship team.

Decent pickup if Barnes does sign on the cheap. There is a reason he keeps bouncing around the league from team to team. Barnes is an 8th/9th man on a good team at best. He does bring some size on the wing at 6"7 and has been known to knock down the occasional three. He is an energy guy who is a willing defender, although he is not really that good at doing it. Barnes has no business starting in any type of lineup.

I hope it's true, lots of rumors have had him signing with the Cavs and I want nothing to do with him.

He's really not that good of a shooter and while he has the length and athleticism to do it, he's not a very good defender.

homer, a few weeks of stats in the playoffs because of matchups doesn't mean this much he is not 'superior' to nelson nor is he 'way better' than harris and rose...his D is best among the 3 and thats it

you do realize how silly that sounds right?

Rondo is just the beneficiary of playing with 3 all-stars, put him anywhere else and he wouldn't be that good. He fluked that one round in the playoffs, and everybody knows it, except boston fans.

That one round? You seem a little lost. He nearly averaged a triple double throughout the course of 14 games in the post-season, not one round.
Did you even watch the playoffs? You do realize those averages where while he was playing with a Celtic team that was severely plagued with injuries right?(at one point 2/3 of those all-stars facing injuries);; Of course you don't, that's much easier to overlook.

Rondo was the best player on the C's roster in the Bulls-C's series. KG - not playing. Paul Pierce/Ray Allen - dead tired and inconsistent at best, Ray just really shined more on occasion. Rondo was a freak and people still try to use the whole argument that he plays with 3 all stars... It's getting ridiculous.

This thread only shows that Matt Barnes doesn't matter at all.

Wah, I know Garnett was out, but 'dead tired'? What kind of dumb excuse is that. Do you really think Rondo could average 8.2 assists a season on any other team? Really? Rondo has to be the most overrated point guard in the NBA. Not to mention, he probably played about 8 OT/2OT/3OT games during the playoffs, so I wouldn't really say it's 'legitly' averaging a triple double.

I don't get why people like Barnes anyway. He played in a system in GS (the same system that helped 2 Warrior players be in the top 5 in 3p% this year) where he got all the open looks in the world and still was an average shooter at best. And he's got terrible basketball IQ, I would never want him on my team.

If it's for only 1.8 millions it'll be a nice addition for the Magic.

1. barnes is a good pick up for any playoff team 2. yes rondo did own for a playoff run but so has a lot of other ppl 3. i don't think even hardcore boston fans should say that rondo is significantly better than nelson harris or rose in the east...you can argue that he is all their level, but saying these 3 guys are better than him is nothing to laugh about 4. i actually kinda want barnes on my raptors don't sign him orl

Barnes is a great pick up for Orlando. When the Magic traded Lee and Alston to NJ the big question was who do they have off the bench. Now they found the 3rd guy off the bench behind Gortat and Pietrus. I like this signing for Orlando. Good bench player that will help them out in the minutes that he plays.

If he signs with Orlando, it would be as an 8th man at best, and for 1.8m as an 8th man, it'd be a good pickup.
