If they had a chance to redo it, they'd take Durant, so yes, they did in that sense. But Oden could still end up being great, just the odds of him being what he was hyped up to be, has been greatly reduced.

Why would you make this thread in the middle of the off season?

Lets let Oden play another season or two why don't we. Whether people are right or wrong about him, going off of a season of recovery, not to mention his rookie year is just of stupid.

I think Oden will be good, but nowhere near his pre-draft hype.

Yes because Oden will never catch up to Durant.

OK, you guys are crazy. I'm still pretty high on Oden and feel like he could be a top center in this league. Kevin Durant is the truth. He's the greatest thing to happen to the NBA since JR Reid.

Yes, bc I thought Durant was the better pick from the start.

Agreed.

Durant right now (had he progressed and develop the same way) would fill one of their major needs a SF, but then again they'd need a big man.

That they messed up is now undeniable. Those who say Oden will eventually become the better player are reminiscent of Toronto fans stubbornly insisting that Bangnani will someday become better then Roy.

The Blazers currently lack anyone with tier one star potential, something that Durant possesses in abundance. Durant is already better then their best player (Roy) and five years younger with room still to grow. Oden, if he can even stay on the court without sustaining injuries and/or fouling, may end up being a solid defensive big in the mold of a Tyson Chandler but nothing more.

They messed up big time.

yes imo. unless oden just makes some crazy strides and fast, because he doesnt strike me as having a long career, where durant looks like he can play for like 15 years or so. who knows though.

Portland was the most efficient offensive team last season. Adding another scorer would help, yes. But it would do nothing to improve their greatest weakness: defense. Infact, adding Durant over Oden would make it worse, and then we'd ahve what? Channing Frye as backup C?
Thank you for all the memories BRoy. You were a class act and brought hope to an entire region for 5 years. You will be missed.

Being a Blazer fan, it is no secret Durant is better now and probably will be better throughout both there careers. However, who is to say Oden still can't have a good career? If he stays out of foul trouble next year and all the way throughout his career he could be pretty effective (he was in the games this year where he was able to play a lot of minutes). His defense ability/potential is what separates him from Durant and then if he can average something like 15 ppg (maybe homer prediction, but I could care less) then that will be what helps us win. Our defense last year was already pretty bad, it would be worse with Durant. I guess regular season wins would be great, but in the playoffs we would probably be Suns 2.0.
