Western Conference: #2 seed (2 of 8)

Post#1 » by JordansBulls » Tue Aug 11, 2009 3:05 pm

The poll for the best record/1st seed is over in the West conference. Click the team name for poll results. The winner of the previous polls will not be included in new polls. The order of the teams in each poll will be according to the previous poll results. After the 8th best record is determined, the seedings will be adjusted accoring to league rules.

Portland, despite being a homer I think they truly will have the second best record in the west. They may not be better than the spurs. But the spurs are notorious for taking it easy in the regular season. I think the blazers will win 60 next yr.

If Blazers win 60 games then Brandon Roy will be MVP.

i honestly tried to choose another team other than the spurs (as they usually coast thru the regular season and step up during the playoffs), but I honestly couldnt. Spurs it is.

Doubt it. Cleveland will probably win around 60 and with LeBron more than likely putting up much better numbers (as well as being considered the better player), I don't see how Roy could possibly win it.

My vote goes to the Spurs.

Blazers, too much depth to not be a good regular season team. I still think San Antonio winds up in the Finals, but the regular season isn't important enough to them and they'll nurse their age through the regular season. As long as they get a top three seed and don't have to face the Lakers in the second round (though they might want to do that to get a bit of a break in the WCF), they'll be content.

dallas, mavs are the 3rd best team in the west, spurs have injuries and always seem to coast during the regular season

If they're healthy, it's gotta be San Antonio

Portland fans have no illusions that Roy will win the MVP if they win 60 games. We know that Lebron, Kobe, Paul and Howard will get 90% of the MVP votes. If Portland gets a six game improvement over last season the credit will go to Oden being improved and Miller being the vet PG that has been needed. If these two things do not happen, Portland probably will only be looking at 57-58 wins.

I dont really want to derail the thread but i would like to hear the argument how adding marion to an aging team makes them the thrid best team in the rest and allows them to leapfrog some other improving teams like portland and denver. I really would like to hear what has dallas fans so certain.
