The ignorance in this thread is startling.

Focus on the hair, not the bat.

Manu's hair is a direct reflection of the San Antonio Spurs franchise. When he goes bald, its all over.

He needs some Rogaine.

Bats suck blood, Hawks don't.

Heh, only a couple of species of bats suck blood; none commonly in the United States, and they tend to prefer easier targets like sleeping cows, anyway. The majority just eat insects or fruit.

Security isn't doing their job, how do you sneak a bat into the game.

Only some, and I'm not sure why that should change anything.

Anyways, I'm not up in arms about the bat. I'd have preferred it if it was alive, but I doubt anybody there knew how to actually capture the bat, and pragmatically somebody had to do something. Sucks that Ginobili killed it though...

Um... no one sneaks a bat into the arena. I mean who honestly keeps a bat with them?

Also the people who are making a big hissy fit about the bat being killed, do you also cry about millions rats being killed in the NYC subway, do you cry about killing all those tiny termites and cockroaches that are being exterminated in your local town or city?

Bunch of sencys....

Bats are endangered so it's a little different. Termites and cockroaches on the other hand are present in astronomical numbers.

Clearly you have never lived in Texas... In SA and Austin there are an ungodly amount of them flying around at dust.

Manu should have a role in the next Batman movie where he plays the role of a warlord that goes by the nickname "BatHunter". Swiping and killing a bat with his hand...now that's some fine acting right there. Heath Ledger would have been proud.

Just because we're laughing about it, doesn't mean we don't feel sorry for it. Yeah, it's a little sad, but come on, how often do you see someone exhibiting such great reflexes. It's such a unique event that you could say it's both sad and funny at the same time.

I just like the way he sized it up and swatted it like a handball. He gets a 10 for the follow through alone. I do feel bad for the bat, just not bad enough to lose any sleep over it.
