Nate Robinson/Agent Request Trade

Post#1 » by HMFFL » Sun Dec 20, 2009 2:35 am

The New York Knicks say the agent for Nate Robinson(notes) has asked the team to trade the recently benched guard.

A team spokesman says the request was made Saturday and that team president Donnie Walsh will have discussions with Robinson’s agent, Aaron Goodwin.

Robinson, a productive backup last season, hasn’t played in the last eight games. Knicks coach Mike D’Antoni insists the benching isn’t personal, only that he wants to use the players who give the team the best chance to win and that Robinson currently isn’t one of them.

D’Antoni grew angry with a series of questions about Robinson’s place in the rotation before the Knicks’ 95-91 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday night.

“We’re trying to win,” D’Antoni said. “I can’t explain exactly every second the ins and outs, and we were on a roll and that roll doesn’t quit just because you lose a game. You see over time if this works or not.”

A message was left with Goodwin Sports’ office seeking comment.

Robinson is averaging only 10.9 points after scoring a career-best 17.2 per game last season. The two-time slam dunk champion re-signed with the Knicks on a one-year deal this summer after generating little interest as a restricted free agent. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=A ... &type=lgns

Not too surprising, he hasnt played in a while and the team is clearly better without him, wonder which team wants him, if any.

Warriors could use another center to replace Randolph.

You realize Nate Robinson was a free agent this summer and didn't even get an offer from any team, right?

For what year..2010? 2011? 2012? 2013?

Management of cap space and allocating money to particular players is everything for most nba teams.

Many teams arent LA; franchise players dont demand to play for a particular team or not play (kobe) or bolt (shaq) and free Pau Gasol givaways are rare for other franchises.

Would love to see him as a 6th man on a team like Boston, Cleveland, San Antonio. As long as he's only playing 15-20mpg he could be an excellent asset

Steve Nash for Nate and Duhon, reunite Nash with Duhtoni and the Suns get a better defensive PG in Duhon and a 20ppg scorer with playing time in Nate.

I think a few teams probably had an interest in him, but for what he was worth most assumed the knicks would match a small deal. David Lee was in the same boat.

lol, the problem is Nate is a loser and all those teams want to win. He cannot have a prominent role on a good team.

Sure he would/could. He would be a good backup push the pace type of player on a playoff caliber team in a limited minutes type of role.
