Paul Pierce or Vince Carter: Defense only

From what I've heard from Nets fans and on the Celtics board, both players have been playing above average defense this year. So, who you got (defensively only) this season or in past seasons?

People generally talk about their offense. However, I'd like to hear people's opinions on their defense- as this facet is often not talked about with Pierce or Carter.

I might go with Paula Pierce this year. I actually thought Carter was playing better defense LAST YEAR than he has been playing this year... What makes this comparison difficult for this year though is that the Celtics are so good as a team defensively and get so much hype that it's hard to tell how much defensive work Paul is actually doing.

carter isnt a bad defender...dont know how that rep built up!

but I'm not sure if pierce isnt better nonetheless

Pierce has been playing very well on the defensive end this season (like a lot of the Celtic players have), and I think he has clearly outplayed Vince defensively this season.

I'd say Pierce is a better defender. Carter's a good defender though and he gives you a lot of blocks from the SG position too.
