Will porzingis have back to back healthy seasons? I wouldn't bet on it but he obviously makes them dangerous if he does. Will definitely be weird seeing smart in another uniform. Thought he'd be a celtic until post prime at least.

Sad to see Smart get traded from the Celtics, but honestly I'm proud of Stevens for channeling his inner, heartless, Danny Ainge.

One thing that I didn't realize until looking it up is that Smart and Derrick White are the same age. This wasn't a case of Smart aging out, this was a case of the Celtics just deciding that White was better - unless you think Smart was just so much more in demand they chose to give up the better guard who was also a franchise institution to make the trade work, but I think that's not likely.

(And that White was better than Brogdon too I think, given that one would think that they'd have preferred to trade Brogdon over Smart. That's no small thing given that they acquired Brogdon after they acquired White.)

This is one of these things where I tend to with hold judgment after a team makes a move on a guy with injury concerns. While it's definitely a risk, it's possible that their doctors are telling them it's less of a risk than those of us on the outside might fear.

Presuming he's healthy, it's going to be very interesting to see how the Celtics try to use a presumed lineup of White-Tatum-Brown-Rob-KP. If they just go with a "random" offense, I don't think it will go well, so there's going to need to be a scheme, and the players (ahem, Tatum & Brown lookin' at you) are going to need to buy into it and deal with any early hiccups.

Re: Weird seeing Smart in another uniform. Yeah, bums me out thinking about his green hair. If you ask my wife to describe a guy on the Celtics, she'll talk about the green hair guy. I hope the Celtics understand what they lost with Smart, and that they do what they can so that he can come back to Boston later...sometime after this contract is up.

I am kind of surprised Boston couldn't find another deal with Brogdon in place of Smart.

There was no time for a physical because of the deadline on Porzingis opting in, and they obviously couldn't convince anyone that Brogdon's injury wasn't a big deal.

This trade had to be financially motivated right?
