As always with Simmons it comes down to if his head is locked in. His best seasons were way more valuable than anything these guys gave you. But when he went toxic he became at best useless to outright harmful for his teams.

At his best, Ben Simmons was head-and-shoulders above the other two [Smart and JJJ] defensively. He really was a 6' 10" bowling ball defensively who could switch 1-5 legitimately and guard anyone from Giannis to Durant to Jokic well enough to make an impact.

Offensively, he was the best playmaker of the bunch by a significant margin, and neither Smart nor JJJ are going to torch a team with their shooting [Simmons worst attribute and weakness].

I feel like Jaren Jackson Jr.'s potential is the trump card here. We've likely seen the best of Simmons and Smart. Simmons had the higher peak, while Smart had a little better longevity, but more or less, their career values are about the same (Simmons total WS is 33.6 compared to Smart's 33.5).

Jackson Jr. has a total WS of 22.4 at age 24. If Jackson Jr. can produce 3-4 more great seasons, I can see him passing Simmons and Smart.
