to be honest, i think rondo only has good stats because hes playing with the big 3. although his defense is good.

Clearly the criteria for that list was "which PG would you want to build a team around", not just a mere top 10 as of right now. I just thought it was funny to see Rondo at #2 on any kind of "top PG" list. I have zero desire to boost Rondo, I'm beyond that. Rondo will boost himself. You shall see!

That list is still wrong. I'm a big fan of Rondo but there's is no way I pick him over Deron, Parker, or Arenas as my franchise cornerstone.
My top 10 PGs to build a team around:
1. Paul
2. Deron
3. Arenas
4. Parker
5. Mo Williams
6. Baron
7. Rondo
8. Calderon
9. Ellis
10. Hinrich

The last 4 are almost interchangeable as are the first 2. Nash and Kidd while probably being two of the best PGs around don't fit because of age. As is the oldest of my 10 is Baron and he's 29 which made me think about dropping him lower.

Any NBA quality pg would have looked good playing for the Celtics last year. If you switched Rondo for Hinrich or Bibby, does anyone actually think the Bulls or Hawks would have improved that much???

I have a hard time taking that list seriously after reading the comments below it. Apparently the guy thinks ZBO is a good defender but he just doesn't try. RIIGGGHHHTTTT

Rondo is VERY tough to rank because he is a player that only fits certain teams. You can't expect to trade the man straight up for a PG and get fair average in return. He is a good PG for only certain teams looking for certain things. Well that is until he develops an accurate jump shot.

Rondo is a very solid young player, but I wouldn't take him over guys like Devin Harris just yet. I value Harris very highly though. I think he's a terrific defender, like Rondo but has a much better offensive game.

Looking past Deron Williams and Chris Paul, there aren't many young PGs I'd take over Harris right now.

I still feel like people miss the point with Rondo.


Forgetting Rondo, i.e. you might not think the following applie to Rondo, I'd be curious to see how people would rank a player with the following attributes.

#1 defensive PG, #2 in steals per game
#2 rebounder at PG, rebounds better than almost all guard, half of SF
Almost exactly at the average for PG on scoring, assists, and turnovers

Where would people rank such a hypothetical player, even if you don't think that describes Rondo?

I still feel like people miss the point with Rondo.

For building a franchise around, Williams is not a bad choice. He's only 25 and more proven and arguably a better offensive weapon than both Calderon and Ellis. He's worse than Baron, but if the premise is "PG to build franchsie around", Baron's age and injury history count heavily against him.

First of all, it's quite an assumption to say that Rondo is the #1 defensive PG(he isn't. Not even close).

But really, unless the person responding to this post is John Hollinger, they wouldn't judge a player by looking at a stat sheet. Randolph puts up better stats than David Lee does, but I'd still rate Lee as being a far more valuable player.

Looking at stats without seeing games in order to gauge their meaning is worthless.
