Minnesota better be careful...a small market team going nowhere fast. Wouldn't be the first time that franchise lost a star player who wanted to go home to a bigger market.

Which Minnesota star has even demanded or left via free agency to their big market home team?

Revisiting the Timberwolves’ Stephon Marbury-Kevin Garnett divorce

Image

Wolves fans had two-and-a-half seasons to see the Garnett-Marbury pairing...Ultimately, Marbury demanded a trade because he wanted to play in a bigger market to gain endorsements and become to the only star on a team, not playing alongside another star. Garnett was the bigger star in Minnesota, and Marbury wanted the bigger market-only star combo platter.
T-Wolves -- Fansided

Code: Select all

Marbury forced on an in-season trade with his refusal to sign a contract renewal. Eventually Stephon wound up in New Jersey, while Terrell Brandon arrived in Minnesota along with the sixth pick of the '99 draft. The Marbury & Garnett era in Minnesota was over.
Bleacher Report

Since learning his moves on the asphalt courts of Brooklyn, Stephon Marbury has dreamed of playing in New York as a pro. He's happy to settle for a few miles outside Manhattan.

For the Nets, bringing Marbury home was perhaps the only way they could salvage a difficult season in which they had the worst record in the Eastern Conference.

It brings Marbury back home; if not to the heart of the city where he grew up, only a short distance away.

Well I personally don’t think Edwards is dumb like Steph.

I remember vaguely the top pick was up for grabs cause no one thought Wiseman or Ant were worthy of the top pick. Rumor or report was Hawks 6th and Huerter wasn't enough for it. I think another top 3 protected 1st would've gotten it done. Ant is a quirky kinda of dude. He could ask out or play 15 years in Minny.

I said Ant's comp would be Beal and his ceiling Wade but now it looks like he could be a rich man's Wade, Wade with a better vertical and better 3pt shot, or hybrid Wade/Vince

Like Giannis a few years ago, this season has felt like Ant-man's coming out party
