Chicago Bulls vs. Atlanta Hawks: A Detailed Matchup Analysis

Image

Team Overview and Rankings:

Atlanta Hawks: A high-scoring team with a fast pace but ranked low in defensive efficiency, allowing a lot of points.
Chicago Bulls: Struggle offensively, ranking near the bottom in points scored and pace, but their defensive rankings are better, although not top-tier.

Good Matchups for Hawks:

Dejounte Murray (Shooting Guard): Positioned to exploit the Bulls’ defense which allows the 5th most 3-pointers to SGs.
Jalen Johnson (Power Forward): Can take advantage of the Bulls giving up the 2nd most rebounds and 3rd most 3-pointers to PFs.
Onyeka Okongwu (Center): Has a favorable matchup with the Bulls allowing the 5th most assists to centers.

Bad Matchups for Hawks:

•Trae Young (Point Guard): May struggle against a Bulls defense that allows the 2nd fewest points to PGs.
•Saddiq Bey (Small Forward): Could be hindered by the Bulls’ ability to limit rebounds to SFs, ranking 3rd in fewest allowed.
•Onyeka Okongwu (Center): Might find it hard to grab rebounds, facing a team that allows the 3rd fewest to his position.

Good Matchups for Bulls:

•Coby White (Point Guard): Could capitalize on the Hawks’ defense, which allows the 2nd most rebounds to PGs.
•Ayo Dosunmu (Shooting Guard) and Alex Caruso (Small Forward): Stand to benefit from the Hawks’ tendency to allow a significant number of assists and 3-pointers to their positions.
•DeMar DeRozan (Power Forward): Has a chance to score heavily against the Hawks, who allow the 5th most points and 2nd most 3-pointers to PFs.

Moneyline Insights:

•Atlanta is favored with a 61.2% implied probability of winning, supported by a solid win rate as the favorite this season.
•Chicago, while the underdog, has a lower implied win probability of 42.7%, in line with their less successful record as the underdog.

It is weird that we have three pure PGs and not one of them can play a lick of on-ball defense.

Bey, Trae, and Murray were a combined 4-23 from 3.

Good!!!

I wish they would call this more often on players throughout the league.

And especially on Trae who too often leans on getting a whistle instead of making a basket...and who whines about calls all the friggin' time.

They can't beat a depleated Bulls team, such garbage.. nah we're good at 10 no need to try and move up.
Where the offseason has more buzz happens.

Return to Atlanta Hawks
