That was really elite level of basketball by Denver though. Concerning that we really couldn’t even tickle Jokic in this game, we let him play like he was on his own. Jaylen was awful for the most part but was pretty good defensively on Murray in that 4th. Three ball went away and we had nothing again. Hauser, Pritchard and Kornet absolutely useless in big games again. What was the success rate of that lil zone we run? I bet not high because I saw Murray cook it for like 5 pts in 30 seconds. Holiday was absolutely **** useless in a big game AGAIN.
Another game that highlights all the problems that the ‘it’s only January, we have the best record in the league’ crowd closes their eyes on. Same problems we have seen for YEARS.
2-4 against the other top 4 teams in the league, 1-3 vs the top 3 in the West. When the talent evens itself out, we struggle win. It’s all out right in front of us.
Concerning that we couldn't tickle Jokic this game, or handle Murray? Denver brought a playoff attitude, what did we expect to do with Jokic?
Do we not realize he had a post season better than even Steph Curry ever had? Jokic has been the best player in the NBA for 4 years. He may be the most offensively impactful player of all time. The dude faced Rudy Gobert, Ayton, AD and Bam last post season - the best defensive bigs (outside of Ayton) in the game and averaged 30/14/10 on 56/46/80 for an entire post season run. There's nothing we can do to stop him. Same with Murray gave em 26/7/6 on 48/40/95.
Denver is WAY too well coached, and Jokic is way too smart for any defense to figure out how to stifle he and Murray's two man game when it matters.
We're good enough to beat those guys. But if we're anything lesser than our absolute best for an entire series, we can get through them.
Championship goes through them, not us
I expected us to make it hard on him. He made everything look so easy. As a duo, there was a point where they scored 66 out of 69 pts. It was a remarkable game from them. Controlled the entire pace, got to all their spots. It was incredible to watch. I actually thought in the last few minutes we did well on them though, I liked Jaylen’s defense on Murray towards the end. He had a few great ball denials that led to broken possessions for them.
Idk if we are good enough to beat them. I think we would fall short on coaching and poise. Very much like the Golden State finals, they would execute better in the clutch than us. They match us well in everything and are like the one team that has a duo head and shoulders above ours.
