The answer for Brad Stevens is Thomas Bryant of the Wizards a stretch 5 or 4 should be a good pickup if healthy.

The Future For Brad stevens To Consider

Post#42 » by thomas1897 » Fri Mar 11, 2022 8:03 pm

Al Horford is the oldest team member and there should be a replacement and backup. One of the best players is Thomas Bryant of the Wizards. A stretch 4 or 5 and can match up with Daniel Theis or Robert Williams. A very good player when healthy if and when he recovers from leg injuries would help the Celtics with a very good rotational player. In the off-season Brad Stevens should add some very good pieces to build a championship team.

I merged this in to the existing Horf replacement thread.

Knocking on wood here, but Horford has been looking younger and more productive as of late that I am thinking maybe keep him as is next year. We can replace everythinh about Horford individually. But finding 1 player who doee all things together will be very hard IMO.

How he holds up defensively and shooting this playoffs matter. Right now it seems like he can. Theis has helped in that regard.

Celtics need to find a way to keep Al Horford if no “big” deal presents itself. Horford is a beast on defense and the numbers support that claim. Celtics won’t be the same without Big Al. Defense will take a hit

Agreed. Part of why the C's are playing this well is because of Big Al. Hope POBO finds a way to keep him.

He is good enough to keep because it's unlikely you can find anything better with his buyout savings even if you could work it with the cap

If we can't retain Horford or find a Horford lite, it would be cool to find ourselves a player in the mold of a Siakam, Herb Jones, Scottie Barnes, or Kuminga.

IMO,

Beal comes here then try to trade Brown for Siakam or OG

I think we likely need to keep Horford for next year. He will cost us a lot, but better than anybody else we can likely get.

Keep Horford unless a "godfather" deal becomes available, meaning one you just can't say no to. Something like Durant for Horford straight up, lol. Other than that, keep him, then resign him after next season on 1-year midlevel money contracts until he wants to retire and become our big man coach. Having Theis and Grant on board really helps with Horford's minutes. Horford and Rob starting with Grant and Theis off the bench is a great rotation. Keeping Horford around 20-24 min unless really needed is key. We do need to upgrade our 5th big next season though, just in case.

Right now he's a decent starter with a soft minutes limitation. If he stays close to that he'll be worth more than taxpayer MLE money.

Fortunately, we have his Bird Rights.

I like Smith but with the way he’s played for Indy I’d have to think he’s priced out of the mid level. Would like to see a young big man with up side though. Maybe Hartenstein, somone said Bryant, who could be available at the mid level because of his injury history. Sengun would have been perfect…. :( Maybe a lottery team would still see value in Nesmith and would be willing to swap seconds to take a flyer on him?

Luis Scola is available, and he's only 44.

We also have to be careful with Al's 'cliff' moment looming in the near future.
Look at Millsap. Dude is absolutely useless now.
One day Marcus Smart will be defensive player of the year, mark my words.

I think Al might earn 100% of his money nixing the ideas of a buy out.

What Fencer and Sam_I_am are referring to is the blue part from the previous page:

2011 1rst Team All-NBA (voted one of the 5 Best Players in the League by Peers/Press)
2018 1rst Team All Defense

Celtics rarely seem to play as well as when Al is on the court.
