He was tops (amongst players with ~300+ minutes).

https://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/IND/2023/on-off/

Not by a big margin, had their best on/off defensively. Could be a fluke, season before he was towards the bottom of their rotation defensively and overall.

Good energy guy to bring off the bench, supposedly a good cutter and a willing cutter, has good upside and there are some parallels to Jerami Grant who also attended Syracuse and took a few years to come into his own. Was fairly solid statistically as a second year NBA player, so he has shown himself to be capable.

In that sense, he is a home run pickup for the minimum. However, while Grant was described as 'unselfish' in his nbadraft.net profile, the rap on Brissett entering the league was that he played wild, was an inconsistent shooter and exhibited poor shot selection. And for two seasons straight his TS% has been worst, or nearly worst amongst Pacers rotation players.

And that's my main concern here, in that sense he is the exact sort of guy we should be avoiding IMO for the sake of our team's identity and culture.

Good breakdown. For now, view him as 11th man competing with Hauser for a rotation spot. With the number of shooters the team can play with, a narrow offensive lane for Brissett is possible. Team needs more active movers. I do wonder if his signing means they are out on Banton or if his visit was a push to talk him into a 2-way contract.

I'm not exceptionally concerned with the shooting. Again a tug of war with Hauser is what I expect. I believe you can get by carrying a poor shooter, especially if you are a loud lob finisher and fervent cutter.
Thanks Brad for answering my ad,
"Boston Celtics Barbershop, cutters wanted."
But after KP, your C play? You broke my heart Fredo.

Meanwhile, it's been a good 24 hours for guys who weren't good enough for the C's (Strus, Bane).

Still the best on-off guy in the pacers rotation last year tho.

I see him as 6th on that: https://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/IND/2023.html

Not expecting him to be Reggie Miller or anything but he’s a capable defender at multiple positions and can make open 3s.

Hell make the rotation and contribute in the playoffs.

I know Halliburton can sling it, but hopefully he gets a lot of the wide open corner threes that Grant has made his NBA fortune on in Boston’s offense.

200 minutes out of 4000 doesn’t count as rotation imo.

I think this guy was plays a little bit.

Edit: I’ll say he hits 800+ mins, 9th-10th man level. Might even start half a dozen games.

I couldn’t get through the video. He said “amazing games” at least 74 times in the first 3 or so minutes.

I made it 4.5 minutes, at which point it dawned on the content creator that if Oshea can just AVERAGE an amazing game, then he’ll be an all star because you won’t be able to deny his amazingness. #newsyoucanuse

I like the fact that he's a bit of chaotic energy. Guys like him are going to look better when they play on better teams, so right there you can expect an uplift in terms of his contributions. If he can control some of that chaos he could realistically be a fairly useful minutes eater for us.

With the Smart for KP swap, C's can afford to have more non-shooters on the roster and fit them into lineups featuring guys who can compliment them.

It's a shame it's a player option for next year. Either it works out and he opts out or it doesn't and he's blocker on the end of the bench. Still a solid pickup for a team that should be managing several of their core players' minutes.
