Not sure what you mean?

Like, losing Smart esp but Grant as well, moves that get you in the feels. I'm big on community guys and Marcus and Grant were two of the most generous and most active we've had over the years.

If he had a ring it'd be a "crime". Without one, it's just a slightly lower ranking than he probably deserves.

During his tenure, Stevens has more playoff wins as a coach/executive than 28 teams in the league. Win this man a title FFS.

Finally a GM who pulls the trigger, instead of hearing... "We like our guys!" Every off-season.

Jrue Holiday > Marcus Smart
Kristaps Porzingis > Robert Williams
Dalano Banton < Malcolm Brogdon
Oshae Brissett ~ Grant Williams
Wenyen Gabriel < Blake Griffin
Lamar Stevens > Mike Muscala
Svi Mykhailiuk > Danilo Gallinari (by default considering Gallo didn't play at all, in a vacuum he's better than Mykhailiuk)
Jay Scrubb > No one
Jordan Walsh > Justin Champagnie
Neemias Queta ~ Mfiondu Kabengele

4 future 2RPs < 2029 Unprotected FRP, 35th pick

Sam Cassell > No one
Charles Lee > No one

Basically the Celtics upgraded everywhere on the floor except Brogdon's spot (and Griffin as the end of bench vet presence but they just got a NBA champion that was voted best teammate in the league 3 of the last 4 seasons so it's debatable if they really lost much in that department). The net draft capital loss really isn't as big as people think. Big coaching upgrade as well. Horford should be worse but all the other returning players should be better so overall internal development should come out as a net positive as well. There's still the trade deadline to shore up any weaknesses. Outstanding stuff.

I trust Brad way more than I do Danny. I've distrusted Danny ever since the "I would have traded Larry Bird" comments (obviously it worked out well with KG/Pierce). Danny wanted to win every trade/battle, Brad is less about sweating the small stuff and more about improving the team overall.

I feel he's quite wise in getting guys who fit, who will move the ball and can shoot. He's moved out flawed players and brought in guys who fit. Moving aggressively for Derrick White is example #1. Jrue and , on paper, Porzingis also are examples.

That's the gist of it there. We sacrifice 6/7 guys to get an elite top 4 (replacing elite defenders with elite 2 way players.)

We're really relying on wildcards to replace that depth. Hauser already partially replaced Grant in the rotation. Maybe Pritchard steps into the 3rd guard role. Add Horford/White and that's the 8 man core so far.

The minimum guys look gritty, nice pickups, but are relative unknowns. With Horford's age the whole bench seems like a question mark - plenty of chances for guys to step up

Smart, Theis, Langford for Jrue and Porzingis. It's highway robbery.

One of the best things about this trade is the options for the closing lineup. There really are 6 players good enough to be on the floor at the end of a game, depending on whether offense or defense is prioritized, and depending on positional needs.

So, basically, to close out any game, Joe has the option to sit one of Holiday, White, Brown or Horford if they are "off."

Figure Tatum and probably Porzingis would be constants.

JB and Holiday are not gonna be sitting in crunch time.

It really comes down to White or Horford. Which one is playing better..and depending on matchups, do we want to go big or go small ?

And there will be quite a few reg season games where 1 of those 6 guys is resting or out with an injury or something. So in those games, you start and close with the other 5 and it's an easy decision..

Ainge should get a ring if we ever win the title with this group.

Image

Our starting five has Danny's fingerprints all over them.

White: via Langford (drafted by DA) and Richardson via Hayward TPE (acquired by DA)
Holiday: via Brogdon via Nesmith (drafted by DA) via MEM 1st (acquired by DA)
Tatum: drafted by DA
Brown: drafted by DA
Porzingis: via Smart (drafted by DA)

The Jays? Of course.
Assets for 1-2 more of those guys? Sure. Smart and Timelord were well drafted.

All 5? That's stretching it. Brad traded away a lot of 1sts and swaps to put the current roster together. Nesmith and Langford added very little value into those transactions, if any.
