Listening a bit to Phil Collins and Keith Whitley (I know, right?). Damn, that hurts.

Check out Glen Phillips solo stuff. He's the lead singer of Toad the Wet Sprocket. His solo albums are great and address that issue in a therapeutic way. Especially the song "Go".

Just saw Godzilla: Minus One and it was cinematic genius. Undoubtedly one of the best films I've seen all year. On what's basically a shoestring budget for movies these days, Takashi Yamazaki crafted a masterpiece full of action, heart, grief, redemption, and at times, sheer terror. At times, this film felt like the original Jaws. The new score (and the old one from the 54 film) punctuated the emotional moments brilliantly. It was beautifully shot.
Yamazaki said in a recent interview that he'd love to direct a Star Wars film one day as he is a big fan. If Disney was smart they'd grant his wish immediately and if he did he could take my money right now.

New movie Leave the World Behind on Netflix with Julia Roberts and Ethan Hawke. It's an end-of-the-worldish type thing and really gripping throughout. Still deciding what I think of the ending but I'd recommend it for sure.

I watched this last night too. I thought overall it was an interesting idea but it certainly didn't knock my socks off or anything, I agree on the ending too. I am not sure if this will make sense, but I really felt like I "noticed" the directing with this movie. It seemed like he was trying to do too much/throw too much in there (editing/camera angles/music etc). I am certainly no technical movie nerd, so it is a bit unusual for me to feel this way about a movie. Felt like maybe he was trying too hard or something.

Crushed.
If you haven't seen Homicide, you're missing his greatest - and one of the all-time greatest - performances in TV history.

Been fine for me. I'm also blocking various 3rd party scripts.

Any similar platforms like this to discuss Patriots?
Have tried Reddit this season and holy it is a toxic cesspool of children at times.

Sons of Sam horn has a pretty solid core of posters. Some reactionary stuff of course, but that’ll happen everywhere.

The ending gave me serious WTF vibes. Felt like blue balls. Really good buildup and then....I don't know.

Updates on shows I mentioned previously and am now further along in the season...
Monarch Legacy of Monsters on Apple. It was dope for a few episodes and then it got kinda boring and unfocused imo. The monster scenes are still cool but that's only like 5 minutes per episode. Season isn't over yet though so maybe it will pick back up.
New season of Fargo remains excellent. Juno Temple, John Hamm and Jennifer Jason Leigh are crushing it. The show I'm most looking forward to from week to week at the moment.
I finished A Murder at the End of the World and thought it was quite good. It's not super fast paced but I was absorbed so I didn't mind. I thought the ending might have been a bit much as far as a forced "moral" to the story, but it was also good and satisfying as far as the resolution of the murder mystery.

That new movie Rebel Moon on Netflix doesn't offer much in the way of originality and is glaringly derivative of Star Wars and other sci-fi films we've all seen. But if you can get over that it's action packed, good looking, well acted and a fun way to spend a couple hours.

Star Wars and The Magnificent Seven. Though like many ensemble cast films doesn't spend enough time with any character to get you invested or make you feel the stakes. There's apparently a Director's Cut for this one as well. Snyder might as well just start releasing those instead and maybe fire his editor. Because the cuts they make suck.
