Here's something I didn't know. The collegiate award has been around for a little over 20 years, and was won by 2 future Celtics.

Confusingly, it was also won by a highly forgettable pro player who was the namesake of a former Celtic That said, for him it was a nickname, so maybe he got it in tribute to the Celt.

Geez. I was about to guess Pervis, since his prime years at Louisville in the mid 80s must have been about 20 years ago.

Seems like the trophies question isn't going anywhere.

The answers are, in summary:

Russell, Cousy and Bird for the pros.
Cousy for college (best point guard).
John Thompson for the DC regional one.

Guessing before scrolling down.

I bet Sullinger and Jujuan Johnson won something named after KC Jones. Russell is too obvious.

only Celtic name I can think of interesting enough for a nickname is Jojo White, but I can't think of any collegiate star/pro bust named Jojo

Guess not. Should have guessed Thompson. Kemba Walker and maybe Jrue must have won the award, maybe Rondo, it sure wasn't Kyrie.

Kemba and Pritchard won the collegiate Bob Cousy Award, which was created a little over 20 years ago.

So did somebody named Daniel "Dee" Brown.

I've gotten some trivia mileage out of the famous college coach being an unspectacular ex-Celtic.

37 points, 23 rebounds, 2 assists is a famous Celtic stat line -- by whom? When?

Only two teams ever knocked the Russell Celtics out of the playoffs. What did they have in common?

Tom Heinsohn game 7 of the 1957 finals. Before my time but I knew about his reputation for scoring/rebounding but not passing too much. Many years ago, I kind of heard first hand stories about him in college from 2-3 of his former college teammates.

BIngo.

Before my time too, of course.

That was his rookie year.

So we have the Petit Hawks and the Chamberlain 76ers? Im not as strong a history buff as I would like to be, but I hate both teams - they have that in common

EDIT: I googled and cheated to get the answer (which I never would have guess), but wont spill the beans

I didn't know the answer until I stumbled across it shortly before I posted.

Hint, albeit a tricksy one: I started down the path that led me to stumbling on it by looking at the box score for that Heinsohn Game 7.

An article on the 'Nova Knicks reminded me that the Celtics once started 3 guys in a playoff series who had previously won an NCAA championship together. Who were they?

Hint: Furthermore, the Celtics' head coach at the time had been one of their coaches in college.

This question isn't going well.

If somebody asked me, the easy first guess would have been Antoine Walker, Ron Mercer, and Walter McCarty, playing for Pitino just as they did at Kentucky. That's not quite correct -- I'm pretty sure Ron Mercer never made the playoffs as a Celtic -- but it's a jumping off point to get to the correct one.

True, but Wayne Turner played on that 96 Kentucky team as well and later for the Celtics in 1999. That team didn't make the playoffs either lol. However, Tony Delk did join up with Toine and Walter to make the playoffs, but with no Pitino... There must be some combo I'm not thinking of though since you hinted it's close to the correct answer.
