Jaylen is playing better., more consistent and engaging type of hoops than at any point in his career.

Tatum is putting less superstar scoring numbers yes, but his defensive game and rebounding game is way up on the production on those ends he was giving us under Ime.

Derrick White has also evolved into a arguably an All Star/All NBA 3rd team player under Mazz.

Once Joe (and he will, make no mistake he will) tap into Jayson Tatum's psyche and ensure he runs the keys and car to our team, it's game over for the rest of the league, including Denver.

I like Ime and thought he was great for where we were, but don't agree at all about tactics and strategy, I think it was his weak point. Ime to me is like the Jimmy Butler of coaches, macho come follow me style or I'll slap you in the face, but I got your back too. He relies heavily on his assistants for a lot of things beyond his base ideology of defense, move the ball and trust each other. At Celtics he had access to a healthy Rob Williams that made us a defensive giant, but it was switch everything all the time with a great roster that allowed it, then Rob as the safety. There weren't adjustments and there wasn't much offensive creativity. I find Ime to be a bit of a one trick pony and very conventional.

IMO Joe is far more strategically advanced and creative, sometimes too much so for some on here. With Joe he needs to learn to reign that in when called for during the playoffs if anything.

Absolutely spot on. You only have to watch their press conferences to see it.

Hot take but Ime screwing around was the best thing that could’ve happened to us. Unless you have an offensive wizard like a Lebron/Jokic/Luka on your team you need an X’s & O’s specialist & Joe is quickly becoming that. Ime was only going to take us so far with the “tough love” type coaching philosophy because as good as Tatum is he’s not on the level offensively as the names I mentioned.

People can say this is crazy take but I truly believe Joe’s going to be an all time great coach. He’a only young & he’s still learning & I get the team is extremely talented but to be leading them to the 4th greatest net rating of all time in his second year is kind of insane. You add to the fact he’s a little crazy with a “no **** given” attitude & you’ve got all the makings of what you see in a lot of the greatest coaches we’ve seen.

I agree, although I’m a little more tempered. I can see Joe has a lot of the right elements to be great:
- smart
- understands basketball at a deep level
- can read situations on court quickly
- is creative
- sets a standard and is consistent in enforcement
- coaches all players roster wide equally
- listens to assistants and is open to ideas
- forward thinking
- can communicate clearly to each player so everyone has clarity on their role
- cares and trusts his players and believes in allowing some flexibility for their growth and expression on court
- prepared to break convention if he has a belief based in an idea that has statistical supportive evidence
- believes in himself

His down sides will be tempering the creative and innovative sides to his plans when a more conventional approach is needed and being quicker to scrap plans when they’re not working in the playoffs.

However I see a lot of upside with him.

At a guess from afar (Australia) one of Joe's biggest strengths is his very close belief and trust in his/our players and allowing them to express themselves both on and off court..

I honestly don't believe Brad and or (especially) Ime would have green lighted Jaylen Brown to compete in this year's ASG Dunk Contest.

Joe, rightfully accepted JB's wishes to perform in it, don't think its a coincidence Jaylen is in career best form since the All Star Break.

I feel like Joe has almost at a point he has total player buy in, like Pop and Spo in their peak seasons.

One downside to it is he may have too much trust/faith in players like Tatum in clutch time with 30 seconds to go in games.

It’s amazing what a preseason and experience can do along with some assistants.

Agreed. Ime is this alpha-male, larger than life presence, all cocky and confident, commands a room, does does cocky alpha-male stuff that show his dominance like calling players out in the media and saying "we've gotta play better team basketball than that" at his introductory press conference with the man who hired him sitting right there.

He's like Tony Soprano or Don Draper. And like both of those guys, Ime cheated on his significant other who he shared a child with, which put him in some serious hot water..

A more interesting case study is how some hardcore fans have actually doubled down on their poor opinion of him despite the evidence and results. :D

I’ll admit I was guilty of overreacting to the way last season ended. Looking back, it looks a bit silly when you factor in the circumstances Joe was put under.
Regardless of the talent we had, asking a guy who had no experience as a lead assistant & was thrown right into the deep end a week before training camp was always going to be tough to overcome.

Come on in, there's still room on the bandwagon.

Oh trust me, I’m well & truly on the ‘Crazy Joe Experience’. That attempted block followed by his answer as to why he tried to block the shot as well just gave me even more faith in him.

They don't change their opinions, they just stay quiet in the shadows until we lose a game or two.

With the offense the Cs have this season, Joe has the edge.

Yeah my guess is that as of now the COY race is probably 1) daigneault 2) Mosley 3) Mazzulla

In this clip, young Joe Mazzulla answers a question about talking Bob Huggins into changing the WV defense based on their personnel, and compliments the coach for taking his advice.

I dont get how Joe is not #1 in odds to win COTY.

BEst team in the league by a long shot
brought in 2 NEW STARTERS
new coaching staff around him
historical offensive production from the team
elite level defense

on pace for a .800 win percentage

Him not getting it would be a travesty.
