I'm thinking that this is another Partially Guaranteed Contract, with dates for Camp; Start of Season; and Jan. 10, 2024?
We couldn't really put him on an Exhibit 10? -- Still works out.

He had an offer from a Greek team that plays in the EuroLeague and has a bunch of former NBA players on it. I think a team like that playing overseas, if we're talking about a player who is gonna start and be one of their leading scorers, it would obviously be a guaranteed contract that he was offered by the Greek team.

So I doubt Svi would accept a non-guaranteed contract (and especially not an exhibit 10) from Boston, over a guaranteed contract with Panathinaikos where he would be a starter and one of the team's leading scorers.

I see no reason why we can't give him a guaranteed deal. He's as good as any FA that was still out there, he can shoot, he's entering his prime right now, has no injury issues. He's arguably better than Brissett, and Brissett has a guaranteed contract.

Not at all. But rather him as a regular season end of bench guy than someone like Champagnie.

He can definitely shoot, that will have use with the Tatum bench lineups.

Lots of clever posters here, but you are by far the funniest! Laughed out loud on this one.

Yup I’m telling you there is something similar here to how they made Stauskas a PG.

Don’t totally have my finger on it yet but wouldn’t surprise me at all to see them run a Banton/Svi backcourt with the deep depth groups.

I’m guessing that if he does it’s at Payton’s expense (slotting in at “second string SG” — though I know the Cs are unlikely to play 10 regularly).

I don’t love this player but respect that he’s a real guy who’s played quite a few NBA minutes and isn’t as far as I know dealing with any injury/injury history. Good depth option at the wing.

PP and Banton in a dogfight with Svi for minutes that may or may not exist

I like Sam and Oshae as a pair of tweener forwards FWIW

Real issue is though how far do we get before people say he kind of reminds them of Gordon Hayward?

I sing a refrain on the reign of the Ukraine Train!

C'mon folks, be real, this guy is a better player than Hauser now. Maybe Brad brings in one more defender, but Svi is a great signing. The team seems to have really pursued him as it took a while. I expect that he's been guaranteed some minutes and could be one of the first 3-4 guys off the bench, depending on the matchup. One more spot to go. We got a shooter and filled a need.

Hey you! Can we come together?

Mykhailiuk is literally "missing piece" in Ukrainian. No need to fact-check. I did my research. Svi is the article "the".

haha. I feel like early on in the season that group could have some ugly moments out there together, but later on in the season (once they get used to playing together and get used to the team and stuff) they'll be kicking opposing team's 3rd stringer's butts!

I wouldn't say his defense is *all* bad, but I wouldn't call him a good defender either.

From what I've seen, he's definitely not an elite defender. He usually holds his own alright, but there are some moments here and there where guys will just blow by him off the dribble and sometimes where he will be a little late closing out on a shooter or not able to contest the shot as closely due to his short arms.

These 2 vids show us the good and the bad...

:01 good tenacity, speed and anticipation to get the steal, then takes it in for the big dunk on the break!
2:29 nice tenacity and on ball defense, gets the steal, leads the break, takes it in for the layup

:30 Giddey able to drive it on on Svi and score near the basket without much resistance
:38 Nice help D, comes over and grabs the steal
1:30 decent job of defending the drive here
4:43 Giddey just blows by him here for the layup
7:28 can't quite close out on the shooter tight enough and Isaiah Joe hits the 3
7:58 Giddey is able to drive in and score way too easily here, with Svi getting hit by a screen while defending Giddey
8:08 Jalen williams gets the ball, Svi defending him. Jalen is able to put the ball on the floor, go by Svi and score very easily

Boston 'bouta show Sviatos love right from his first three of the season. Early in his careeer, the man was called the Ukranian Lebron. :tooth

In respect to the probable departure of the former Bus #1 Boys' vibe leader for the new season, the new group could be called the Mopley Crew -- guaranteed for 8 pts per 12 minutes of garbage time. :clown:

He’ll end up being somewhere between the 5th and 10th best Jayhawk to ever wear a Celtics uniform.

My top choice for this spot was Lamar Stevens. After that probably Rivers (but it doesn't sound like was cool with taking such a limited role). After that it was basically a tossup between Svi and Terence davis, with Danny Green pretty much in the same tier after them..and Javonte being a tossup with Danny Green. And Warren/Diallo/Sumner not too far behind them. Hell, even McGruder wouldn't have been a bad pickup, imo.

So yeah, like I said before. Not a whole lot separating these guys, and we could sit here all day debating who's better than who from that group. At least we got one of them, and can move on now - Svi is a solid player.
