U need players who can do something. He is a shooter. I like this than young players who sit at end of bench. Put young’s in the g league.

I don’t care about upside at end of bench.

But the veteran minimum signing comes to Boston with positive reviews from personnel on his previous teams who spoke with The Athletic on the condition of anonymity so they could talk freely. Multiple former coaches raved about his work ethic and his penchant for throwing down random windmill dunks or sprinting full speed into shots during practice, with one saying, “He does some jaw-dropping stuff in workouts.”

A former staffer who worked with Mykhailiuk closely felt he turned the corner last year once he left the Knicks for the Hornets, where he averaged 17.3 points and 5.3 assists per night when he started the final eight games of the season. After spending his time in New York making occasional brief appearances, getting a consistent role on a late-season Charlotte team gave him the reps he needed to find a rhythm and play some of the best ball of his career.

I’m higher on Svi than most, think he has the potential to be a real regular season contributor for us.

But that article is hilarious lmao. He does dunks and runs full speed? Wow that’s absolutely incredible, I’m blown away. Holy cannoli, give him 300 million too.

Some stuff in there does sound a little bit silly I guess. But at the same time, it says "random windmill dunks" which to me implies that typically when a player does a windmill dunk, it's in the open floor, in transition, with no defender near him. So perhaps Svi will do windmill dunks randomly during other situations besides that, to try and impress the team he's working out for.

And sure, it's not impressive to go "full speed" but perhaps going full speed into a jump shot is more rare. Like usually, during a drill or or in a game situation, a player may sprint full speed up the floor but then they will slow themself down and/or gather their momentum prior to shooting it..I would think that if a guy literally went from a full sprint right into shooting it immediately, their shot would probably miss badly. So perhaps Svi is able to sprint full speed and without slowing down much (or at all) he's able to shoot it and make it in - try try and impress the team he's working out for.

I mean, it's not good basketball mechanics to literally go from a full sprint to then shoot the ball while literally still running at full speed. That would be ridiculous haha. Perhaps in a workout setting, players typically either run at a speed that's less than full speed prior to launching a jumper. Or they run full speed and start slowing down their momentum sooner before launching their jumper..

I've never seen him play outside of Cs games where he plays for the opponent. I hold no strong opinion of him other than he'll win Finals MVP in 2024.

Nice to see that Svi looks a lot like what I've expected, ie: can hit the shot as advertised, but also a bit more athletic and court savvy than folks are expecting.

I definitely can see him as a third guy off the bench, depending on the matchup and what is needed. So if Joe starts double big, then there is White and PP coming in as first subs. Then Svi, Brissett, and Stevens depending on the need.

I could see the five of those guys as a small ball bench mob as well, with Brissett at C. It's an undersized lineup but potent offensively and still decent defensively. Lamar and Oshae can punch above their weigh class it seems, so if Svi can stay in front of the small forwards out there, he my get a regular roll. He looks fairly strong, too.
Hey you! Can we come together?

This guy looks like a keepa. Has such a good handle for such a good shooter, on a team with a lot of iffy handles.

If his only glaring flaw is his defense, I think Cs can work with that. Surprised another team didn't bid higher for his services. Or maybe he just really likes to play for the greatest sports team in history? Lots to like with this guy. He's a lock to make the roster for me. And a good shot at making the regular season (10-man) rotation.

Yes. I can see Svi being in the 10-Man Rotation.
