Lamar Stevens is what we wished Semi Ojeleye could have been.

You mean to tell me that you didn't enjoy watching the basketball version of Scott Steiner?

Really good defensive forward. Could be Jae without the ego.

Nice get, I like it!

D. White/Jaylen/Tatum/Al/KP
Brogs/PP/Hauser/Brissett/Rob
Banton/Svi/Walsh/Stevens/Kornet

TW guys currently Davison, Scrubb and Queta.

Not gonna lie I like that crew, feels like a handful of guys that could step up and do well when the pinch arises (as the saying goes).

Stevens’ 25 dunks would have been good for a solid fifth on the team last year.

There's an implicit confidence from FO in the health situation of our big man rotation. Thought we'd sign Griffin or another vet big for that final spot. I guessed wrong. We got another big wing.

Lots of one-big lineups in our future whenever KP/RW/AH are injured/resting.

Hell yeah !!!!

LOVE this pickup.

Lamar is a DOG.

This team is DEEP !!

I've already posted tons of stuff on here about Lamar. But here as a spoiler I'll re-post just some of it, in case some of ya'll didn't see it before..

Spoiler:
First off, Lamar brings leadership and that's something this Celtics team is lacking. Don't take my word for it - take Donovan MItchell's word:

When I say Lamar is a dog, don't take my word for it. Here's Cavs coach Bickerstaff:

:44 Bickerstaff says "Lamar is a dawg. He's willing to scrap, he's willing to fight. He's not afraid of the moment. Every time we needed an extra possession, he went and got it. I can't say enough about how proud I am of him."

How about some defense? He might be a borderline all-NBA level defender:

His shooting is getting better and better:
Year 1: 16%
Year 2: 28%
Year 3: 32%

22-23 season
Last 39 games: 35.4% from 3
Last 21 games: 37.5% from 3

Boston was one of four teams rumored to have interest in the former Cavs forward. The deal is partially guaranteed according to a source and Stevens is expected to compete for a roster spot during training camp.

Per B Robb. Partial guarantee is nuts, I'm really surprised no one picked him up

Derrick White is back at the #Celtics’ facility. Now they await Malcolm Brogdon and Lamar Stevens officially joining them ahead of camp in 10 days.

Brad is a smart guy. He probably knows that each time he signs a guy to a partially guaranteed 1 year deal, it gives him more leverage to do it again with another player.

If Lamar pushed back on the contract being partially guaranteed, Brad could just say "yeah, well it's the same contract I gave Kornet, Svi and Banton.."

To some extent, I agree. The way the roster is set up, we could go with 1 big lineups fairly often, with Tatum, Brissett or Lamar at the 4. There could even be rare occasions here and there where either JB, Hauser or Walsh is at the 4.

But I think more likely we'll see Tatum, Brissett or Lamar at the 4.

With that being said, we can also go big. I think a 2 big lineup will be pretty frequent. It could be any combination of Rob/Al/KP out there together. Or you could have Kornet out there with Al, you could have Kornet out there with Porzingis. And if we're really in a pinch, want to go big and if Queta is coming along nicely, we could go with Queta on the floor with either Al or KP.

I really like the roster and the options for going big or going small.

I really like this pick up. Having a lock down wing defender who is NBA ready was a need.

Lifelong Penn State basketball fan (and Celtics hater)— Lamar is a legend. Helped revitalize a moribund program, a great guy on and off the court. Happy he’s sticking around in the league, even though I’d rather it be anywhere else. You guys got a great one.

Yeah, I hope so too, because that was my biggest concern about the team going into the year... softness. Talent, we have in spades.
