This is what drop coverage at it's best looks like

Defensive shot chart below (per Positive Residual):

This **** legit. Very analytically sound. Allow long twos. Limit restricted area shots and corners. Cs allow second lowest eFG% (behind Minnesota) and 3rd lowest free throw attempt rate. Good stuff.

Impressed with our defensive principles, execution, and wrinkles this season. H/T to Joe and his staff.

Don't mean uhm akshually you but pretty sure that Positive Residual doesn't have charts for opponents shot profiles in this season yet.

The graph depicted here is from last season, as you can clearly derive from having allowed 11k+ points. I dont think that happened in 10 games.

Exactly. Last season's defensive profile was legit. LOL. Never mind then.

The issue last year was never our opponent shot profile; it was more of a lack of force. They were defensively sound but rarely made themselves felt or made opponents uncomfortable. We gave up a lot of mid rangers which is good but they just kinda were uncontested middies that players don’t mind taking.

You can even see it this season at points; look at how the shots felt for Brunson in this latest game vs the Knicks in the first vs the second half. They were essentially from the same spots but second half white and brown are more up in his ****, just a half step closer and making themselves more felt.

Celtics are always gonna be a high iq defensive team; there’s just too much institutional knowledge there of how to play defense. It’s always gonna hinge on how locked in they are. When they go hard it’s brutal for the other teams.

Need to limit that backcourt offense. Ime would've shut it down.

Cousins knows ball.

Perhaps he's saying good things about us with the hope that we'll sign him?

Will be disappointed if we aren't 12-2 when we face the Bucks next Wednesday.

Highest SRS for a full season in NBA history is 11.92 (1972 Bucks). Highest by a Celtics team is 9.30 (2008 Celtics).

That number by the Cs is unreal lol.

After the 11th game last night, the Celtics have had by far the hardest schedule in the league. Their opponents currently have a .600 winning percentage. The next highest team is at .552.

Not surprisingly, at this moment Boston has the easiest remaining schedule.

Very hard for the best team(s) to have the hardest schedules, at least over the long haul.

Worst teams can't play themselves and vice versa so worse teams on the whole always trend towards harder schedules while the best teams over a season always trend towards the league's easier schedule (since the best team never plays itself lol).

Random Stat Alert: Eleven games into the season, there have been 13 instances of a Celtics player scoring 10+ points in the 4th quarter -- Tatum (4x), White (2x), Hauser (2x), Porzingis (2x), Pritchard, Brown, and Banton.

Different guys have the ability to step up their scoring when needed. (In Pritchard, Banton, and Hauser's case, they were needed to play against the Pacers in garbage time.)

I was surprised by that number at first but I guess it's down to the fact that they really haven't played any bad teams yet. 11 games in, and they have only faced one tanking team (Washington). No Memphis, Portland, Detroit, Charlotte, San Antonio yet (add Utah and Chicago to the list if you consider them as tanking).

The current strength of schedule is .600 and the remaining stregth of schedule is .479. Basically the average team the Celtics have faced is on a 49 win pace and the average team they have remaining on their schedule is on a 39 win pace. Things are about to get a lot easier lol.
