Peterson's listed height is misleading. He has an unusually long head and neck, which skews the measurement.

JD Walsh was truly awful and insignificant. Didn't seem to want to be out there not much of an effort he looks like he got benched in the fourth quarter or maybe it was just a rotation.
This was the least impressive game for me of him.
A game like this says he's not going to be able to help during the playoffs.
The announcers were boring as hell reminded me of supermarket generic, trying to keep my eyelids from rolling down like drapes.

Long neck is odee, gives you great court vision. Long head could be useful for drawing fouls or contesting jumpers without being very handsy.

If DWhite is nicknamed the Buffalo then this guy has to be the Giraffe right? Get a bench of animal names led by Mr. White and call it the "zoo crew".

I think he’s sneaky tall even with his long neck.

I'd say it's a 50/50.

On one hand, I can see them bringing him back. He didn't even get a full season this year on the 2-way..but has shown some good promise..a guy with his size, ball skills and basketball Iat least has a shot to make it in this league so why not keep him around in case he hits?

On the other hand, he'll turn 25 early next season..that's pretty old for a 2-way guy. And there might be better options for 2-way players..

Looking at his Maine stats, he's shot .367 (76/207) from 3, which isn't great for a guy who needs to be a shooting specialist. Very healthy 5.6 assists per game, but 2.7 turnovers. 7.4 boards. Will he (and should he) be back on a two-way contract?

Gets a summer league invite, but that's probably it. He's rail thin and does have a bit of a weird hitch in his shot. Can't say he's the second coming of Sam Hauser at least.

Peterson does turn the ball over too much, but his turnover stats are a little inflated. When Davison and Steward were out, he was forced to play point and had a ton of turnovers. Otherwise he handled the distribution responsibilities pretty well, considering.

His biggest asset seems to be his versatility. As, he's actually listed as a SF/PF. Ballhandling from him is just a plus.
I can't see him getting onto the Boston Celtics Squad, this year. He'd be good for another Two-Way, though.

That's just the 34 game sample with Maine during the regular season.

If you also include Showcase cup games with Maine and also the games he played with the Heat g league team this season (he shot 40.7% from 3 for them), he's at 's at 37.2% from 3. Which is a good number, not a great one but let's also factor in:

-This was only his first ever sea son shooting from the deeper NBA 3 pt line, that is used in the G League
-FT% is a good indicator for future shooting projection. On the full season in the G league, he shot a very good 83.6% from the FT line
-3PA volume is another good indicator..he shot 5.5 3PA per game, which is also a very good number

I'm not too worried about his shooting. However, there is a difference between shooting in the G league and showing that you can do it in the NBA. And as someone else mentioned he might have a little bit of a hitch in his shot. I don't think anyone thinks he is the level of shooter that Hauser is, though.

You look at the numbers (3 FG%, FT%, 3PA volume and putting numbers up consistently for a 4 year career) and Hauser and Pritchard are 2 of the best shooters to come out of college basketball in the past decade. It's kind of unfair to compare other guys shooting to them.

I think Peterson has a shot to make it in the league. He's got talent. The combination of size, shooting, basketball IQ..guys who have that combination have a pretty good hit rate in terms of sticking around in the league. Is he gonna be as good as Hauser or Duncan Robinson? Probably not. But I think he has a chance..I'd like to at least see him on our summer league team and go from there..

Peterson is a lot like a great number of G League players, good offensive player but can't defend. Peterson couldn't stay in front of anyone during the G League Finals, pretty sure a turtle could blow by him and dunk on him. If Peterson wants to be an NBA player he needs big improvement on the defensive end.

Well maybe a Ninja Turtle could…I think a regular turtle would be limited to a layup or floater.
