Seems like Brad really likes going for these tall, skinny, not super athletic guys who can shoot and have high basketball IQ, older guys.

First was Hauser of course. Then this summer he brought in 2 of these type of guys (Vincent Valerio-Bodon and Taylor Funk).

VVB played summer league for us but was not offered any type of contract after that so he went to the Lakers g league team.

Funk was signed before training camp to go play for Maine.

And now we have Peterson, who is kind of like a cross between Hauser and Svi. Has the size of Hauser (might even be 1" taller than Hauser which is certainly a plus). He can shoot it. Not as good a shooter as Hauser (which is ok. Hauser is basically like a top 5 shooter in the league at this point) but seems to at least be as good a shooter as Svi - could end up being better.

Has Svi's defense (so that's Peterson's main weakness, he's not very good on D), has Svi's ball handling, shot creation, passing (Peterson is pretty good in these areas, certainly better than Hauser at these things).

Athleticism-wise, he's probably closer to Hauser than Svi - which is not a good thing. Defensive limitations, athleticism limitations and being old is why he went undrafted. But hey, those were pretty much the same reasons why Hauser went undrafted and look at him now! And again, Peterson is more skilled than Hauser in terms of handling the ball, creating off the bounce and passing. If we can just put Peterson into the same defense development program that we put Hauser on, we'll be good to go..

Went undrafted out of USC this year. He's listed at 6'9 and is shooting 40.7% from three on 4.5 attempts per game in the G-League. Can never have too much shooting with size in this NBA. Played as a guard in college so he can handle and pass a little bit as well. Turned 24 last month so probably not a ton of upside but could potentially fill a niche as a bench sniper after working on his defense like Hauser did.

His highlights as a senior at USC:

Pretty good pick up for a two way. Added bonus is that it takes a guy out of the Miami development pipeline since he was on their G-League team.

Grow his hair plus a mustache and we have our own Jaime Jaquez.

This guy was one of my favorite udfa so good move. I think the Lakers grabbed him this summer didn’t realize he’d been cut loose.

He somehow played 5 years of college basketball which shows resourcefulness at least. That must be a lot of geography and psychology credits he racked up over two schools.

I've seen him play at USC. I wanted us to get him during the draft, if we had picked up a late 2nd round pick. Then he went undrafted and I believe the Heat got him.

Happy to have him here.

Ah right maybe it was Miami. Lakers grabbed Castleton I think.

He was pretty clearly one of the better UDFA in this year's draft class. Miami got him but then cut him.

Looking at his stats so far in the G league this season, its surprising that he was still available. Good pickup by Brad.

I did not see the The thread for this kid but I definitely like his potential.. And the fact that he is listed 6'8 or bigger makes it even more intriguing for me..

Big shooting wings is what I love. he at least qualifies for a really good look

He's a tall lanky guard, like Banton. Good S&B skills on D. Good passer. Not a good, but a capable 3pt shooter. As Jerry Seinfeld said, "I think you have something here.".

He impressed me, he could make it as a wing scorer, bench shooter all around underdeveloped guy coming off the bench who could perhaps be much more than what you think he is actually is?

Worth a shot and a good move and I was disappointed that the Lakers seem to have grabbed him, well whoever grabbed him.
I like these Wing shooters, who are better prospects to be able to contribute during the regular season and the playoffs than any of these big men who are clueless out there like Queta.

Kind of surprised Miami let him go. Then again, I'm a sucker for long, shooter-passers as a Bird era guy.

Nah. Nathan Knight got waived..

And we have an open roster spot on the big club. So we could convert 1 of our 2-way guys anytime, without having to waive or trade any of the guys currently on the roster.

He's very skilled. I really like his passing. If he manages to put on some weight and muscle, we might have a very nice find here. Everybody makes the Sam comparison, well, here's mine. Sam is the better pure shooter and has a bigger, more solid frame, so he can defend better, but this guy is a more fluid athlete, is not just a catch and shoot guy, really sees the floor, can make things happen when he's got the ball... and I hope we can develop him into a keeper.

I would get in trouble for saying this, but why is Brad trying to corner the market on guys who don't look the part of a basketball player? Guy's got skillz though. Love guys who can see the floor and deliver pinpoint passes.
