Good energy guy off the bench. I like this acquisition even though I don't think he will see a lot of minutes under Joe.

This gives me a ton more confidence in the move.

The biggest thing that puts me off on Springer is just the fact that he hasn't made enough of a jump to the NBA level, but if we've got multiple guys who've worked with him in Philly and vouch for him as a guy who could be a late bloomer, then I'm on board.

He is only 21 right.

I really like this! It's probably somewhat irrational on my part haha but Springer is binky of mine.

At least 2 or 3 times I watched Philly this year and came away thinking their team was pretty meh but I really liked this Jaden Springer kid. He plays his butt off, is aggressive and confident and a very pesky defender. And his offense is behind his defense but he's def capable of attacking the rim and putting the ball in the basket. And very springy haha.

Kinda reminds me of Aaron Nesmith when he was in Boston. Springer isn't the shooter Aaron was in college or is now with the Pacers, but when AN was here he couldn't really shoot either haha. Similar players in a lot of ways from what I've seen.

I guess Philly just wanted to shed salary and we were the beneficiary. He's better than whomever we likely would have gotten with that 2nd rounder so good trade imo. Will be fun to root for him and see him develop.

From the highlight vids of him defending Curry, Trae, etc., Jaden seems like a guy that has that dog in him.

I am going to invoke another former much-loved Celtic (by me) who worked his way up from the D-League (pre G-League) as a defense-first player:

The Springer deal tells me that neither Davison nor Madar is in their long-term plans. I'm not sure about Begarin, but he's been just so-so at Nanterre.

Reminds me of Tony Allen. Springer was a good player coming out of college.

Brad and using draft picks to, you know, draft players...

Thanks Brad for answering my ad,
"Boston Celtics Barbershop, cutters wanted."
But after KP, your C play? You broke my heart Fredo.

Torn on Springer. We had zero defense from the guard position coming off the bench between PP and Banton, and Springer does have another year on the cheap. Then again, I really wanted Brad to get a developmental big in the upcoming draft and now I really feel like there’s no chance he’ll trade up and more then likely will trade back to stock up more seconds. I guess I should reserve judgement until we see how he’s used. I feel better with this trade deadline then I did last season.

I care about middle second rounders. You can use them to get real NBA players like Xavier Tillman if you are smart enough to trade them instead of using them to draft someone and watch all their value immediately disappear.

….which is what they did. So what are you complaining about?

He is not complaining. Why are *you* complaining about his perceived complaining?

I don't see a complaint.
