Wish him the best. That size/ length/ ball-handling combo will always be tantalizing but he's gotta learn to shoot the ball.

Good luck in Portland. Such a shame he couldn't figure out how to finish at the basket considering how easily he got there. Thanks for the pick that will never convey.

I had high hopes for Banton, big kid, seemed to get to the basket with ease but for whatever reason was never able to crack the rotation. Maybe he gets some pt in Portland to show what he can do

Good luck Banton. He reminded me of basically everyone in Bone Thugs-N-Harmony and as such I will miss him.

Re: Appreciate You, Dalano Banton! Godspeed!
everyone's saying he needs to learn to shoot, and I don't disagree, but he's also so lithe that a relaxed motor just doesn't seem like it's going to cut it. Size and some skills: yes. Fire and force: never that I saw.
As I said in another thread, I always liked the idea of him, but never (as an actual player) liked him. Still, he almost latched on here, and hope he keeps playing hoops for a living, just because that's an awesome thing to wish for someone I don't know.

I always liked his flashes - starting back in the TOR days. He has stretches where he can get to the rim with much more ease than you'd expect. You'd think, man if he can do this and defend and develop a shot you might really have something! Hope he gets some PT wherever he lands to keep chipping away at that long list.

As others have said, there's legit talent there with the ball handling, ability to see the floor, run PnR, get to the rim with ease at 6'8" and only 24 yrs old, defend multiple positions.
It was a low risk flier that we took. It didn't quite work out, so we flipped him for a 2nd round pick and got him to a team where he'll have more opportunity to play and carve out an actual role in this league. Portland is not a deep team at all outside of their top 7 or so guys (especially with Rob out for the year) and you know Brogdon is gonna miss games to injury.
Banton had potential here but it was just tough for him to get mins consistently as 24 yr old kid on a deep, talented team that's a contender..add in the issues he had finishing near the rim, hitting 3's and also fouled too much (especially for a non-big)..
I've been pretty high on him but you look at his stats this season and they're objectively bad in many categories (MPG, PPG, BPM, 3 FG%, etc.). Yeah he didn't play much so of course the stats will be bad, but there's also a reason he didn't play much.
He should get a chance to prove himself in Portland. But this summer he might not get another contract. I could see him being a really solid player over in Europe. And that's not a bad thing - the top European leagues are really good, competitive basketball in front of *packed* crowds where you can make good $.
Good luck, Dalano!

Never seen a guy go to the rim as easily but finish as bad as him. Still think he's a good developmental player but with limited chances in Boston, you have to make them count when you get them

Terms of that "heavily protected" second rounder: we get Portland's 2027 second rounder but only if it's #49 overall and it's raining the day of the draft

Will he get a ring when the Blazers face the Cs next season?

Maybe. He's evidently prospering in Portland. But they don't have many advantages under the CBA in re-signing him.
