You make an interesting point about modern defenses, I wonder if there might be value in factoring durability to regular season defensive game plans; give up more points in exchange for fewer injuries.
But anyways, every season when I watch the NCAA tourney in recent years, I am reminded that serious, season-ending injuries are not nearly as common in college ball, as they are in the NBA. Age might be a factor but I'm not sure it is even a big factor.
I wonder if the shortened, 40 minute games....or otherwise just the shortened playing times, might be a bigger factor than the number of games. Shortened regular season games would mean, effectively, the same ticket and tv revenue, and they would make the sport slightly easier to follow for the masses.
