This also shows Joe's ability to make adjustments.
Miami wanted to make Boston play in a certain way and Joe countered by attacking the weak links of Miami's defense.

That's the answer: primary defender against JT was Bam. A great defender with long arm, that's a kind of defender JT can suffer.
Jaylen going against Herro and some others Heat perimeter defender was a better choice for us.
JT finished with 42% from the floor even if he have had a good series.

Jaylen Brown against trash defenders while using up half of the team's possesions was:
22.8 ppg
.565 TS%
12.5 AST%
13.7 TOV%
-30.8 on/off
Tatum going against Bam and two helpers was:
21.8 ppg
.563 TS%
22.3 AST%
8.5 AST%
+25.7 on/off
Mazzulla needs to acknowledge the cold reality and stop letting Jaylen have the ball so much even in single coverage against the trashiest defenders.
If Tatum like 99% of us believe is our best player, then why does he always take a back seat in the 1st quarter? I sure some may say to let others get going etc.. Even when Tatum starts out well, Joe takes him out. This is the playoffs. I think the TOP Priority is to get him going and Killing. It only leads to everyone getting better looks. That and analytical speaking, when Tatum has great games Boston becomes much tougher to beat.

That's called rotation. JT played 38 minutes, Jrue 35.5, White and JB 34.playa-hater wrote:BK_2020 wrote:Stan34 wrote:You guys are delusional. You know why JB have had that usage against Miami. Remember, a series we won easily. So you are complaining about nothing.

How many times JB have had an amazing start and when he comes into the game doesn't touch the ball for minutes?
It's a team sport, some of you guys are obsessed with Tatum.
Tatum, Tatum, Tatum everything about the Celtics is related to JT. Calm down guys.
You have to be honest with yourself, the hating on Jaylen is yours north star.

Taylor Snow - The Celtics are playing boos over the loudspeakers as Jaylen Brown shoots free throws. Derrick White started chiming in with boos of his own at one point.

Tatum leaving a little past the middle of the 1st/3rd has been the rotation preference since forever. Stevens did it. Ime did it.
Brad did change it up in the Brooklyn series but that was probably due to Kemba getting injured more than going with the hot hand/ getting Tatum going idea.
Maybe they want to set up the Tatum + bench lineups, or they talked to Tatum and he said he physically feels much better if he gets a quick rest early, no idea. OKC plays SGA the entire 1st quarter. Jokic also doesn't rest in the 1st.
One thing though is, coaches rarely change up the rotation drastically, no matter how the game is unfolding other than foul or injury-limitations.

Bunch of haters. Why Brad's allowing this to happen is beyond me. JB deserves better.

LOL.. I know I am a 'playa-hater' but you are taking this way too far. Aggressive Tatum leads us to victories more than anyone. Tatum is our best player. getting him going should be TOP Priority in my amateur opinion. Although I am pretty sure the analytics of that back me up as well.
Nothing wrong with Brown staying aggressive as a 2nd choice.

Jaylen front rimming FTs is one of my true dislikes in this world. And fears. Right up there with the heat death of the universe.

Figured it would be Cleveland in the end. They got all they can handle from Orlando though so we should definitely be able to beat them.

Let's avenge our game 7 loss to the Lebron Cavs back in 2018 when Tatum was still a rookie by winning game 7 in this series. Go Cs!

Mitchell can get them a game possibly 2 if he goes absolutely ham. They score 100 twice in 7 games. Barring major injuries there is not a single reason to lose. Cavs coach isnt good.Zero advantage there either.

C's in 6. 4 blowout wins. 2 close losses with Mitchell going nuclear, and Brown going full 'Imma Make Both' mode clanking two fts down 1 with no time left.

Mitchell is the guy, but he alone probably won't be the reason the Cavs win games against Boston. It's getting hot from 3 as a group that does it. That's what happened in their lone win vs the Celtics, and Mitchell was out for that one. They went 20 of 42 from distance, had a big comeback, and won by a single point.
