both players play similar roles on either team, defensive stopper both love to take charges but who is the better overall player? posey plays more of an outside game and can hit the long ball while maxiell is more of a cleanup guy on the inside.. who would you rather have as a 6th man?

Get Smart, Maxiell is a beast that eats babies and makes the opposition cower in his presence.

I'd take them both, but I agree that come playoff time I'd take Posey. He can play and guard more positions and if an injury happened to where I had to start one I'd take James. I think the possibilities of LL Cool J coming through with a big play at the end of a big game are greater too.

I'll gladly take them both as well. Both are tough minded players and great defenders. One is a better perimeter shooter, the other can bang down low and hit some perimeter shots as well. For this team, we need the experience. So that means Posey.

Posey`s experience and leadership are invaluable! Maxiell is a nice role player but Posey is the ultimate sixth man for this team!

Posey has the experience, but ultimately it comes down to what your team needs most.

Maxiell is a great player for detroit, but would I trade Poz for him? No friggin way. Maxiell is bigger, stronger and younger then Poz, but I'd rather have a guy who can guard someone like Redd one night and Dirk the next. He can hit the three, cut to the basket and rebound. He can pretty much do it all cept for create his own shot.

Maxiell had a nice game against the c's compared to Posey; but it was Chauncey Billups who really made the difference more than anyone else.

These guys aren't very similar at all. Posey is a perimeter player. Max is an interior player. I don't think they will ever match up with one another.

I'll take Maxiell without even thinking twice. He's a guy you can depend on to create offense for himself if you give him a few touches in the post. Posey needs his needs his teammates to create for him. Plus Maxiell is the Pistons leading shotblocker.

Jarvis Hayes vs. Posey is a much better comparison. They're both SFs who can play SG or PF in a real small lineup. And they're both shooters who can run the floor. Jarvis is more explosive at scoring, but Posey is the better defender/rebounder.

I would take Maxiell over Posey, however, I think Posey is the better 6th man, if that makes any sense. Maxiell has a pretty defined role, whereas you can kinda throw James into a number of different places and he will be able to handle himself decently well without killing the team. Maxiell could never fill in at SG, but Posey can fill in at PF once in awhile...

I've always liked Posey and I think he's an excellent 6th man, but in my (admittedly biased) opinion he is not a player who can take games over. Maxiell, maybe every 4th or 5th game, dominates. I weight that heavier than Posey's versatility and experience, so I think Maxiell is slightly superior.

That said, I don't think either team would trade one for the other. Each is a good fit for the team they are on.

It goes both ways. Posey could never play Center. Maxiell plays about half his time there. He gets matched up on Yao, Dwight, Gasol, JO, etc. He has even matched up at SF against guys like Artest on occasion.

As for experience... Posey's not exactly Robert Horry. He has played 34 playoff games to Maxiell's 14.

Posey is better at about everything.

Hands down Maxiell, but I wouldn't came the two. I would compare maybe Posey and Stuckey but then again Stuckey wins. Posey is better then Hayes.

Posey is a better defender.
Easily.

I'd stick with Posey.

The playoff games played comparision is pretty worthless because you definitely have to consider time played in those games.

Maybe I missed Posey's metamorphosis into a great shotblocker/offensive rebounder who can get his in the paint quite well.

for this team Posey, for the Pistons Maxiell I think both are better playing on their teams.

posey is a perimeter guy and Maxiell is an inside guy so its not a good comparison. The answer is, it depends on if your team needs help on the perimeter or on the inside.
