Paul Pierce - Not clutch?

Post#1 » by DynastyInTheMaking » Tue Jan 15, 2008 8:33 am

I wanna get a general consensus from C's fans before I actually write anything on this.

Where would you rate Paul Pierce Jan 2008 on a scale of 1-10 in terms of how clutch he is?

It depends on what you're talking about.

Heart + effort = 10

Results = 6-8

He was the only starter who showed up to play last night in the 4th quarter...

I'm not bashing Pierce I just feel like he is playing very passively and perhaps even, dare I say it, without any heart. It's said that certain teams in the NBA, particularly the Spurs can just turn it on in the playoffs whether they are the 1 4 or 8 seed. It seems to me that's what Paul is trying to do. Maybe there just not showing him being a leader on the TV, and productive and clutch one at that. Tomorrow night I have seats 4 rows from courtside, I will be watching him very carefully. But I have a bad feeling about this game tomorrow night and very simply put the reason is: Brandon Roy.

You mean the Paul Pierce who drained two FTs with under a minute to play to take the lead.

I would say about a 7 for the season, he sets a high standard for himself.

I only saw highlights but it looks to me like he did his iso play from the top of the key play again. To me that is the only play where he universally makes a bad decision and can't for the life of me fathom why Pierce has the green light to keep taking that shot.

actually last night it was just give it to Ray, iso, Shoot fall to the side away three pointer over Haywood.

The other clutch play was KG in the post fade away from Haywood.

Both shots were misses.

Pierce's # wasn't called for the KG one and they coverd the pass on the last one.

Then Ray did his version of clutch play, shoot the ball and hope it doesn't get blocked.

I'd give Pierce a 7 overall. He's assited Ray on 2 game winners and knocked down one. He's missed two.
