Sign me up. Stoudamire would be a great fit for this team.

Damon Stoudamire is close to reaching a buyout agreement with the Memphis Grizzlies that would allow the 34-year-old point guard to sign as a free agent with either the Boston Celtics or the Phoenix Suns, a source told ESPN.com on Saturday.

I'd much rather have Cassell, because:

1. Mighty Mouse whines about minutes. Cassell hasn't been a whiner since he made his peace with earning a "mere" $5 million or so per year.

2. Cassell has played with both Ray Allen and KG.

So I'm hoping these rumors inspire Cassell to leave a little money on the table, take a quick buyout, and come rushing over to the Cs.

I agree. Cassell would fit you guys better as he is a competent veteran that can bring you even more toughness.

I agree that I would prefer Cassell. But, I doubt he ends up getting bought out. Damon Stoudemire would be ok with me. I think his problem with minutes has more to do with lack of playing time on a bad team. If he was winning here, I dont think he would have a problem with a limited role on the team.

I like it. I don't like the thought of just hoping that Sam gets bought out AND decides to sign with the Celtics.

I think you have to go with Mighty Mouse. I just don't see Cassell being bought out. I'm sorry. There's no reason to. If Cassell doesn't demand a buyout with the next few days, sign Damon..

Stoudamire is 5-10. Do you guys think he's the right player to guard the Chauncey Billupses of the league?

He'd be going up against the second stringers. No one really guards guys like Chauncey THAT well, maybe Tony can. Rondo would still start but Damon would be the veteran hand in case Rondo struggles. He has lots of playoff experience. If you can't get Cassel. you get Damon..

I'd much rather have Jason Kidd. Unfortunately like Sam Cassell there is no indication that there are any buyout talks whatsoever. You take what you can realistically get.

Both would be pretty good. Stoudemire does have one advantage over Cassell. He is 4 yrs younger then Sam. But I'd probably rather have Cassell too.

Cassell would be better but stoudamire would be a hell of alot better then nothing especially of rondo went down for a real stretch, hes a real point gaurd, he has a few warts, but he is a solid player.

Everyone would rather have Cassell, but be realistic. If Stoudemire gets bought out, he's the C's best option. There's no point in whining about no getting Cassell if he won't even get bought out. Stoudemire would fill a huge hole left when Rondo's not in the game.

We could always sign Stoudemire for the rest of the season and if he sucks just sign Cassell this summer.

whats been one of our biggest weaknesses this season? when rondo's out, teams pressure us & we struggle w/the pressure. damon would help with this.

i agree cassell would be better, but he's not going anywhere. he's LAC's top 3 players this season. where did the idea of him getting bought out & automatically signing with us come from?

if sam is not available, i have no problem with damon on this team. he's a good ballhandler and a steady kick out guy. he can also pick up some steals.

as they say, a bird in hand...

if we can get Damon let's get him. i'm not a big fan but he's a vet who has been thru the wars, and can still play a bit.

and if cassell becomes available, let's sign him too. there's nothing that says we can't get both. it costs the owners a bit of lux tax money but prolly less than a million, if that's the difference between a championship and not i'm sure they'd ok it.

KG would love Cassell here. He said that he and Sam have the same attitude and he felt really close to him with the short time of him being here.

KG and Sam winning a ring together would be sweet along with Pierce, Ray and the gang.(Even though Sammy already has two)

Hate to echo the sentiments of the board, but yeah ... I'd prefer Cassell. However, it strikes me as a bit of a gamble to hang around hoping for the perfect player, especially for a little more than half a season. Take Damon, see what happens with Cassell in the offseason.

I'd love to see that happen. We really need some help at the backup point guard spot. House and Tony don't look comfortable at the position.
