Bill Walker: That’s tough. I like LeBron [James] and [Paul] Pierce right now.

DraftExpress: Pretty good match up in game seven huh?

Bill Walker: That was a beautiful game. That’s what I’ve been waiting for during the playoffs, something like that.

DraftExpress: Have you been watching a lot of the playoffs?

Bill Walker: Yeah. I’ve been watching Paul Pierce and LeBron real close because I plan on taking some of their moves and putting them into my game. I can see where I could fit into a system like they play in.

Really cool. He was probably pumped when he heard the news of the celtics buying him

Ha!

I'm excited for this pickup. Could be a Gerald Wallace type guy.

Man I am still pumped about this.

I knew Adam Silver was going to say boston celtics too. Once he said bill walker I got out of my chair, then he began to say boston and I screamed like a chick.

TheCelticTruth wrote:danny redeemed himself? yeah youre right we won a **** title this year. what a comment.

as far as walker's injury, i never got the feeling that it was as damaging as powe's (injuries, i should say, for both), just kept him from playing. more like TA.

yeah i would say TA is definitely gone, and im not upset. he didnt contribute down the stretch, and watching him all year, his injury is in his head, id rather have an over achiever that an under achiever, even if the under achieving isnt anything to lay blame for.

giddens and walker are serious wing prospects, even if they do have questions about them.

No need for name calling. Thank you. canman

Obviously the redemption was in reference to the reach of Giddens in the 1st and not the job he's done overall. And I think calling Giddens a reach is pretty reasonable seeing as nobody had this guy going in the 1st. Ease the hell up with your "what a comment" crap.

Good friends since childhood with OJ Mayo. And went to school and played with Michael Beasley. Man, this guy has been around talent.

Here's the complete interview.

It's kind of a long read but a really interesting interview. Walker sounds like a smart kid with a genuine appreciation for the game.

Who said draft night couldn't be interesting with the 30th pick?

This draft was really boring until we traded for Bill Walker though. Realizing who we drafted on Youtube and then hearing the announcement that we traded for Bill Walker were two very exciting moments tonight.

I know right. CSN did a horrible job covering it. Look what big baby and powe (2nd year though) did last year. Young draft picks that really provided depth off our bench. I feel these guys can help out too. And CSN seemed not to care. Only spent half a mohegan suns sports tonight on it. Dickerson seemed bored too.

Cannot complain about Walker, I loved the pick. I'm interested what tonight means for Pruitt/TA/House. Pruitt can still net backup PG minutes but any thought of him playing off guard can be erased after these selections were made.

This has the potential to be a steal, obviously, but how do we know he won't be Tony Allen all over again? Not from a talent standpoint, because it's clear he has a lot of that, but from an injury standpoint, Walker looks like he could be another "athletically-inclined-but-can't-play-due-to-injury" player like Tony Allen...

Hopefully he's more Leon Powe than Tony Allen in this regard.

Bill Walker is born and bred in Huntington, West Virginia, along with OJ Mayo and next year's lottery pick Patrick Patterson.... Walker is a helluva talent and an even better basketball player.... He'll make this team, I guarantee it.... He's on par, athletically, with Kedrick Brown, Ricky Davis, and Gerald Green.... He'd dunk JR Giddens under the table.... If he never had a knee injury, we'd be talking about Walker in the same sentene, in terms of athleticism, as Vince Carter.... That's the best comparison I can think of for how Walker attacks the rim.... Like the VC of 98/99 ish where the guy is just angry at the rim for being in the way....

He's an exceptional defender as well, and has an underrated post up game and jump shot.... He'll be an assett for sure.... IMO, he's better than JR Giddens, Tony Allen, and Gabe Pruitt already....

Yeah, I was thinking that the Celtics next season could become the first franchise to have two rookies invited to the NBA slam dunk contest. Well, that is, if the NBA were to expand the number of participants.

Keep up the tradition.

Past participants from the Celtics included...

Dee Brown (Won)
Greg Minor
Ricky Davis
Gerald Green (Won; runner up in second appearance)
J.R. Giddens or Bill Walker?

Edit: I forgot, I believe Atlanta had two players in the same year, Wilkins and Webb. Still, I don't think they were both rookies.
