He's been labeled as the new Vince Carter … which may not be a good thing. Walker, if he chooses to seriously work on his game in the next three to five years, could be the steal of this draft. He could make the Vince analogies an insult. With the right team and the right amount of patience, he could be another Gerald Wallace or Jason Richardson, but more athletic and more explosive. Scary, ain't it?

If Walker is healthy..and I see no reason why he is not ....is a steal and Danny has done it again. Detroit had, from what I had heard promised him if he was available was gonna be gone in the 1st round. I have no idea what happened but bam Danny got him. This guy is a beast and it just reaching his peak from the knee problems just like Powe. I bet he makes the team and is a player right away for the C's. I still say we keep Posey but Tony is most likey gone as is Sam/Pollard. Walker is gonna be a joy to watch and won't be a bomb if healthy......good move Danny...... 8-)

I will believe when i see it. Why does everyone always get so crazy over the second round picks. yes they have talent and are athletic, there is a good reason why 45 teams passed up onhim.

I haven't been following the Walker knee saga, but didn't he seriously injure his knee during workouts? will he be ready to play by TC? will he even play this season?

People have the rights to be excited. It shows a sign of loyalty. I am very excited about Bill Walker because he was a projected top 5 lottery pick last year. Do you know how much it means to us?

Ok be execited. When the cetls are winning 55 games next year and this kid is getting no burn don't be surprised. Maybe sitting on the bench will help this kid. MOST players need actual burn to get better. I'm just saying don't get to excited. He had 2 severe knee injuries and depends on his legs for his game. Look at what it did to TA!! I know walker is supposed to be excellent, we will see.

Quick Jersey Switch. Pics are too low quality to work with, so if anyone can find a better picture of walker or giddens, I would appreciate if you could post it.

I went to bed after the first round hoping to wake up to good news, and I did. I know many were hoping for him and we got him. Very nice.

Please, PLEASE be patient with this kid. He is nowhere near NBA ready defensively, nor is his passing and jumpshot there with any consistency. As a role player, defense, passing, and jumpshooting are often what get you on the court.

When Walker is in the game, I think he needs to get plays called specifically for him. JR Giddens can be an effective player off the ball for us right now, but I don't think Walker can. Luckily, Bill and Pierce have similar games, so hopefully we can just use some of PP's plays to get Walker good looks in the paint when Paul needs a breather. Even with that, I don't expect more than 10 MPG from Walker, and a stint in the D-League for a little bit would not surprise me at all. This kid needs minutes to work on some aspects of his game, while I think overall he should stay up for most of the time so he can learn under Thibodeau.

Walker since the start of Big XII play:
16.6 PPG, (120-250 FG; 48%), 24-75 3PT FG (32%), 51-69 FT (74%), 5.9 RPG, 1.9 APG, 2.2 TO/G

If he cuts down on his 3 point shooting, I think he can be a far more efficient scorer right away. The horrible A/TO ratio is concerning but he's really young and most freshmen wings have A/TO ratios under 1. I just wish he'd have more than 2 APG considering how many times he and Beasley were handling the rock.

I could hardly be happier about the draft since Walker and Giddens were two of my top choices--- and we got both!

I watched the draft to the bitter end and was waiting for something to happen. As soon as Adam Silver said trade was for the 47th pick, I yelled 'Boston'! Bill Walker just seemed destined to be a Celtic. He can be this year's Leon Powe. The C's organization has been excellent in developing players the last couple of years.

Bill Walker is a great dunker - and a legitimately smart guy who seems dedicated to his craft. I don't know how you couldn't be excited about him! GG was about as bright as a tomato.

I think Walker will spend a lot of time in the DLeague next year. Obviously we liked Giddens more because of his superior defense so with Pierce/Allen/Posey(hopefully)/Giddens, there's no time for Walker in the rotation next year. Also, Walker is supposed to be undergoing surgery soon so he's not going to get much time during the summer to improve his game. I expect Walker to have a Pruitt-like role next year whereas Giddens will have more of a Big Baby role.

A recent interview with Walker: http://www.draftexpress.com/article/Bil ... e%22-2894/

Interesting tidbit from it:

DraftExpress: Favorite basketball player?

Bill Walker: That’s tough. I like LeBron [James] and [Paul] Pierce right now.

DraftExpress: Pretty good match up in game seven huh?

Bill Walker: That was a beautiful game. That’s what I’ve been waiting for during the playoffs, something like that.

DraftExpress: Have you been watching a lot of the playoffs?

Bill Walker: Yeah. I’ve been watching Paul Pierce and LeBron real close because I plan on taking some of their moves and putting them into my game. I can see where I could fit into a system like they play in.
