I was wrong about the SI article saying birdman got suspened for coke.I just read it again. It just implied it was coke or speed of some type. He wouldn't say what drug it was but, he did say it helped him lose all the excess weight going into training camp.

Sorry about that.

If that's the case, then he's even dumber than I thought. Weed lasts in your system up to a month or longer, making it an easy thing to test positive for. Stuff like coke and speed are usually out of your system in 3-4 days.

This article from ESPN is a must read on Miles. It basically says that he was using a performance enhancing drug, and that any team that signs him knows he will be suspended for the first ten days.

http://myespn.go.com/blogs/truehoop?tag ... %20celtics

It wasn't for pot. That is clear because there would have been a previous 5 game suspension for that. The Perfromance enhancing drugs are supposed to be made public knowledege and this one wasn't?

Well, having tested positive for SPEDs is quite understandable due to the nature of his injury. He probably wants to play and I don't understand why everyone wants him to stay retired. If the guy wants to and can play in the NBA, how does that affect any of you? I'm not saying I want the Cs to sign him, but if a GM thinks he can help his team, good for him. One of the major problems with our society is many love to see people fail and actually wish for them to fail. Too many people worry about what everyone else is doing rather than focusing on their own life.

I am fine with him. I think he can handle Atlanta's athletic small forwards.

My greater point is that if he needs the SPED's maybe he shouldn't be in the L.

If a PED would help him recover from an 'unrecoverable' injury and he only has to sit out 10 days, that's absolutely worth it. Call him a cheater, but if you can remain in a business that pays you millions and all you have to do is miss 10 days, that's hard to pass up on.

For me, signing Miles is all about his motivations. He has made plenty of money already, but I am sure he is eager to sign another big deal. Perhaps he can use us for a year to springboard himself back to respectability and sign a bigger deal next year. James Posey seems like he 'used' us for the same goal, and it worked out fantastically for us.

Like POB and Andersen, it's a really low-risk, high-reward move. If Miles, or POB, or Andersen turn out to be duds, we have the depth at every position to survive (provided the injury bug doesn't strike heavily). And if they play with some fire and motivation, they're all athletic, talented players with the size and quicks we need to improve the SF/PF/C positions.

I agree....and how does that bode for his long-term success without getting busted? The guy already has a history with the league bagging him for indulging in the dank sensimilia that is the herb...

No thanks to Miles. Yeah, it'd be funny to screw with Portland's cap situation, but to get a knucklehead drug user? I'll pass. Besides, I can't stand that lame "head bump" thing that he and Quentin Richardson do when they score (when Quentin Richardson actually used to play and score). Dumb, dumb, dumb player.

^^Haha...if we paid them in hot dogs and coke, I could go for that! Of course Stern would probably make that count against our cap number! 8-) 8-)

YES!! Keep the thread alive people. I just don't understand these guys who have so much talent and no desire to play. Maybe they were made to do it and it to much like work. I mean I would take a job that I worked 5 hours a day and got paid a boatload of cash in 10+ years you are done.
