The NBA has registered six possible NBA team nicknames for Oklahoma City with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

The names are Oklahoma City Bison, Oklahoma City Barons, Oklahoma City Wind, Oklahoma City Energy, Oklahoma City Marshalls and Oklahoma City Thunder.

Wow, wtf. The Wind? The Energy? It's like they're trying to outbid themselves for the worst name ever. Very Isiah-ish.

Even though it would be blatantly cheesy I honestly think that "The OKC Brick Roads" (with a yellow oriented color scheme obviously) would be infinitely cooler than the Thunder, Wind, or Energy.

I just had a captain planet flashback.

I'm tellin ya, the Tornadoes is an awesome name. I don't think the NBA would be up in arms over it either. How many times have you heard people clamoring for the Heat to be renamed when heat kills lots of old people in Florida every year?

If I have to pick one of the registered names, however, I like the Bison. Big, tough things. See lots of them in my old stomping grounds. The Oklahoma City Bison gets my vote.

Of those names they've registered, I way like the Barons the best, and those uniforms were definitely sweet.

Thunder? Energy? Wind? ... Please.

I think all of the names they currently have in mind our kinda lame, either too generic (energy, thunder, etc), or they just have no seeming connection to Oklahoma City.

Cowboys would work well if it wasn't already taken by a college team. IMO, Outlaws would be perfect and would not encourage violence on any level - it would be a more specific name than "Bullets" - but the team and/or league must disagree. Personally, I like something like Wild Horses.

At second glance, I don't mind Marshalls either.

The nickname of Energy was the one that caught my attention. My thought, the Oklahoma City NSTAR or whoever is their major electric company. But, if they want to use the Wind or the Engergy, then why now call themselves the Elementals?

Outlaws would be ideal, but of the six suggested:

Marshals > Barons >>>>>> Bison > Thunder >>>> Energy > Wind

I believe Thunder is fitting, even if its a D-League or minor league team name.

After all, the sonic's are a minor league team anyway.

It sounds like a wrestlers name, truthfully I dont care about this OKC team since they screwed over the Sonics and I hope they go 0-82 every season

While I share your resentment over the deplorable situation that led to the Sonics moving, you can't really wish ill on the players, coaches, or fans. Hopefully, Clay Bennett will get arrested for being a terminal ****, get sent to a federal pound-me-in-the-ass prison, and Seattle will get a team with a good owner.

Wouldn't fit on a jersey....

UNLESS, it said "OBABOGDFA." Come to think of it, that's pretty catchy!
