The Diamondbacks said all along they would be more aggressive with top prospect Justin Upton in his second year as a pro. So it should come as no surprise that Upton is being promoted today to Double-A Mobile after a blistering start to the season for Class A Visalia.
Upton, 19, was hitting .352 with five home runs, a .442 on-base percentage and a .557 slugging percentage entering his last game with Visalia Saturday night.
"Things were coming together quickly for him," farm director A.J. Hinch said. "He's performing at a high level, and it's time for a new challenge."
