I guess I just don't see the logic in take 50 cents on the dollar for one of the top fantasy players and picking the third (or arguably fourth) best pitcher from that list. Damn, that should have been me taking advantage of safan.

If you were to get 2 guys from that list it would have made some sense, but that deal is flat out awful.

I think this is pretty much a trade when someone has to step in.

BBJ is right on this one I think. There was no intent to give someone a competitive advantage through this trade, it was just safan being safan. Drew should still be a top 5 shortstop in a year or two though so it's not THAT far off. Were it me, I would have demanded two of that group of pitchers though.
